Marco Rubio wants to eliminate the poor by reducing Social Security and Medicare Benefits

Will this Make America Great Again?

The part I disagree with is above.

He doesn't directly say it but he implies that tax reform will lead to more people working and thus more taxpayers and revenue.

First, if managing the debt is the issue, you start with reducing spending and then cut taxes so that you don't increase that debt. Doing it this way has the opposite effect because the initial revenue cuts will increase the debt and you have no guarantee that you can ever reduce spending enough to get it back in line. Cart before horse.

Second, there's no indication that this round of tax cuts is going to lead to more jobs. Or that the jobs will be the type of jobs that pay into the tax system instead of paying nothing. Automation is gradually reducing the tax base and while the gained revenue is passing to the corporations, we're also reducing their tax rate so we're not reaping as much of those benefits as suggested.

Third, the long term trend in wages is that they're not growing and workplace participation is trending down. Benefits are up and so total compensation is up but actual wages have been flat.

So as path to economic growth and stability, I disagree with how Rubio thinks the steps will go. I think his stated approach balloons the debt.

that is a principled argument based on the stated position of rubio

War or drugs, war on terror, and now war on the poor? And Lil Marco is the anti-peasant czar?

The GOP are like villains out of a bad 80s movie. How the fvk they keep getting elected baffles me.
which part of the article where rubio is quoted do you disagree with?

So, did you intentionally ignore the "able bodied" part of my post?

Listen, I live near a few ghettos. On a Tuesday at noon, motherfuckers are sitting on their porch drinking 40's, while collecting government benefits. That is disgusting. Put those lazy pieces of shit to work.

The same goes for people milking unemployment, disability, etc.

Yes, SS is for the old. I am pretty much certain I will never see a dime from it.

The Republicans ran Trump, Cruz, and Rubio in 2016.... that has to be one of the worst fields in US history.

At least Trump was rich and Cruz was smart. Rubio has nothing going for him.

Rubio believes that corporations provide jobs. Not only that, but that corporations give people the tools for survival. He thinks that big corporations stimulate the economy more than workers and small businesses. These are major assumptions, because corporations are about expansion, accumulating profit and cutting costs (most of the time through firing employees, cutting hours and benefits). Rich people are rich and stay rich because they get massive help from government and they exploit their workers (either here in the U.S. or around the world in countries that don't have labor laws).

I get the feeling that Rubio believes in nothing. He's the Ron Burgundy of politics. He says whatever his donors put in front of him.

Marco Rubio is at it again: he wants to eliminate the poor and give more power to the rich.

This piece of shit is either a complete idiot or a shameless liar: according to Rubio, the proposal, alongside tax reform, will "revitalize the American economy." Unbelievable.

Rubio's own words:

This clown is straight up attacking the poor and elderly. But please, Trump voters and Republicans, explain to me how you are defending the general interest of the poor. Please explain to me how you are good Christians that want to protect the weak in society. Rubio argues that the economy is rapidly changing and his solution avoids "ethnic nationalism"(TOO LATE FOR THAT ONE BUDDY!) and "socialism" (GASP!) by taking from the poor to give to the rich.

From the article:

I agree that it's an unrealistic move. He isn't attacking the poor/elderly though. Most people are simply too dumb and impulsive to save on their own behalf rather than relying on managed pools hence existing despite their extreme inefficiency. That safety net is a bubble unto itself though and will pop without being reeled in.

Not sure how this relates to Christianity. You sound sillier than Rubio there.

Given our other "wars" this might turn out to be a good thing for the poor.

It's remarkable how low the U.S. has sunk in terms of domestic and foreign policy. The ideas are stagnant, the parties are too divided, there is massive inequality, and there might be another depression in the horizon. The U.S. hasn't evolved in decades. America could've been so much more and its sad that it keeps being prevented from reaching its potential.

Rubio is pure garbage and is willing to lie about anything in order to get votes and get ahead. Dude is worse than Hillary Clinton in that regard.

He's attacking the poor/elderly by depreciating their two fundamental government protections.

Rubio is a Catholic and he is always ranting about the Church and doing good to the poor. He considers himself a follower of Jesus Christ. He is full of shit and proposing this legislation unmasks him as the heartless scumbag he truly is.

Haha, this is exactly my position on the matter.

But Rubio, electorally speaking, has a lot going for him. He's Latino, he's from a major swing state, and he has the constant appearance of being a "moderate" despite being one of the most partisan vote-by-party guys in Congress.

Fuck, I hate the dude.

Also, one thing that got lost in the Trump shit storm is the fact that Ted Cruz ran one of the most skilled primary campaigns in modern history.

What's most disgusting to me is that Rubio grew up dirt poor. He went to Miami Senior High (one of the worst public schools in Miami) and his family was on food stamps and enjoyed various benefits of social welfare. The guy is a detestable piece of shit that has sold his soul for power and he desperately wants to become the first Latino President of the United States. He also never goes to his job, he rarely defends Floridian interests, and thinks he knows about foreign policy. What a fucking joke.

Trump is boys Rubio and affectionately calls him "Little Marco." I wouldn't be surprised if Trump supports Rubio's proposals.

Yep. The world is radicalizing and quick. America is turning Authoritarian and choosing policies that only benefit the rich in order to ramp up industrial production and profits because they think that there is an endless mass of disposable workers. Seems like an expansion of the military is also inevitable for the poor to be able to survive, which is probably why the military just approved people with mental illnesses to be able to join. Strange times indeed.

Last I checked, Marco Rubio is on 8 congressional committees. 8!! Since our reps spend over 60% of their time doing donor calls every day, and he's in 8 committees, where in the fuck could he possibly spend time to interface with his constituents?! zero representation.

I disagree with your assertion of him selling his soul to be the first latino president. Demons cant be latino, or any other race.

The GOP did not want Trump or Cruz.

They wanted Romney or Jeb. Rubio was 3rd string destined to be token VP.

Romney didn't run and Jeb ended up being a wet blanket.

Rubio has missed the most votes of any senator three years in a row. And he constantly strikes out looking when asked about federal issues that are particular importance to Floridians.

For real, the guy is so hilariously awful that he actually made Donald Trump's fact-checked insult come back "Mostly True."

You have any idea on how shitty one has to be to make Donald Trump be telling the truth when he talks about you?

Is literally anyone out there surprised that econ savant Aviator Shades doesn't seem to know what an economic bubble actually is?

Rubio wants to eliminate the poor? As in kill them? Are you retarded ts?

By the time you are old your houses should be paid for and you should have a few million in investments. Social security is just a bonus and I don’t plan on ever receiving it. This Ponzi scheme needs to end eventually. As for Medicare it needs serious reform and Medicaid needs complete elimination.
