Mighty Mouse is just plain scared.

13 cans that would annihilate you in about 4 seconds.

He's scared of TJ, but fought Dom. And half of his career at 135. Right.

How about the UFC pays MM what he is asking for, for that fight? They have enough to shell out 500k to CM punk, 800k to Alistair, 500k to Mark Hunt. Give MM his 1mm he's asked for. Doesn't seem that difficult.

UFC is hypocritical, and though they verbally promote FW's they wont dish out a million dollars to a sideshow athletic midget.

Watch Cejudo catch him and put him away.

Awe, TS couldn't defeat professional fighters in a fight? That discredits anything he says, right? Yes, MM is scared. Not scared of TJ, but scared of the risk/reward of a fight with him. He fought Dom in 2011 before MM was a big name in the sport. You have less leverage as an up-and-coming talent than a current champ. Half of his career was at 135 by necessity, not choice. After Cruz beat him at 135 and the 125 lbs division was created, he dropped down. MM is strategic, not courageous. The UFC should pay him what he is worth. And that sure as hell isn't $2m.

Those saying why do you care what MM makes, play this out in your head. The UFC sets a precedent of paying every champ what they ask for. Keep in mind, the UFC is a business. The number one goal of any business is to make money. The more money that goes to fighters, the less that goes to the organization. Every title fight that forced the champ to actually fight someone that could challenge them would require a year of negotiations. The fans lose in this scenario and that's fucking obvious.

He simply wants his tainted title run to continue. It’s obvious for all to see.

It's the UFC's job to sell events. They don't owe him anything beyond the opportunity to perform. What he owes them, and his fans, is putting himself over and become a star. If he can't do that, it's his own fault. He probably could be a star if he worked hard at it.

No, he doesn't. What someone "deserves" is purely subjective. "Deserve" by what scale? Who determines that? One "super fight" that will sell how much? I bet if MM were offered a 50k payday, and 50% of the PPV cut, he would refuse - because he knows he isn't a draw.

Well ain't he special? This, again, is subjective. He's fought less than stellar competition. When the division catches up to him, people will say that he's either out of prime or got old - like they said about Royce, Hughes, Ronda, GSP, Aldo, etc. It's too bad that we won't get to witness MM against an equal foe in both primes.

It’s his job to go out and win, it’s the UFC’s job to promote. If you don’t understand that then you might be too dumb to have this convo with.

He’s refused taking the fight even with his normal pay and ppv cut because he knows he doesn’t sell PPVs. The UFC doesn’t push the smaller weight classes and there are no real stars there. Even with guys like Faber or Dom, they still don’t pull numbers.

And his level of competition has been much higher than what Anderson faced or what guys like Stipe have faced. They are much more complete MMA fighters than the guys at HW or the likes of Travis Lutter and Patrick Cote.

IT IS NOT THE UFC's JOB TO PROMOTE FIGHTERS, GET IT THROUGH YOUR HEAD.

As the company who promotes the fight, I would argue that it is their job to promote the fighter and events. Seems kinda counterproductive to have a fighter as a champion in your org/headliner for multiple events and not promote him.

If he doesn’t feel the reward is worth the risk, why should he take it? To appease people like you, who will bash him anyway?

If the UFC wants to put together that fight, pay him what he wants. If not, stop going around suggesting he’s scared of taking on TJ when he’s fought guys who have beat TJ!

Anyone who thinks MM is scared to fight TJ is completely clueless no if’s ands or buts about it.

MM knows he’s not a huge draw and knows a fight like this is really his one great opportunity for a red panty night so he’s asked the UFC to pay him a super fight kind of salary and i don’t blame him at all for holding out for it.

Remember people MMA is prize fighting, these guys aren’t out there for the hell of it.

I love Mighty Mouse, I have seen every single one of his fights since Pickett. DJ is an amazing fighter who has a hall of fame career already. At this point though I am starting to lose interest in him because of his fear of TJ.

Let's remember that mighty mouse ran away from the 135 division(where he only had one loss in the UFC). He fought someone with more skill than him in Cruz and then fled the entire division. Now here we are 13 cans later, and he has the opportunity to cement himself as one of the greatest by beating the bantamweight champion (at 125 lbs) but he refuses because he is scared. DJ "couldn't" fight TJ and now suddenly he is on the same card.

Instead of the biggest fight of his career he decided to take the safe option and defend his belt against a former foe whose record since the first time they fought is 2-1. A former foe in Henry Cejudo that he already beat by TKO in the first round. Mighty Mouse is outright scared of TJ, or more so the fact that if he loses to TJ his entire storybook career that has been artificially built around him will come crashing down.
Is this like when a conservative troll posts “I’ve always been a die-hard liberal, but that Muslim impostor O’Bummer is destroying our country....”

Please. How about one original thought before posting yet another MM thread?

Actually, to hell with original, how about one that hasn’t already been recycled, verbatim, 50+ times?

max is scared of fighting people his size
That's why max was going to fill in on one weeks notice to fight khabib right? He said he wants to move up to fight the likes of Tony and khabib instead of them moving down because he don't want excuses

Agreed. If UFC took Conor off 200 and stripped him multiple times, and after he made them substantially more than any fighter in history and took on multiple short notice replacements, then they can strip MM, who is PPV repellent and seeks out easy fights.

Yes, because the person with the all-time UFC record for title defenses is a logical equivalent to a guy who held belts over about a two-year span with exactly zero attempted title defenses.

Brilliant.

Why doesn’t TJ just go up in weight then?

Literally DJ's only excuse is this "he's never made 125 before" thing. DJ should get paid but come on, 2 million? He couldn't draw flies to shit, this is his biggest fight and chance to really make a name for himself as the GOAT by beating a 2x BW champ, get people to actually care about him and get those fat paychecks nobody would argue about him getting from here on out.

Let's be real, his entire division could fold tomorrow at this point and no one would really give a shit outside hardcore mma fans who most likely stream his PPV's and never really supported him outside sherdog posts.

Now TJ and DJ are rematching two guys no one has any interest in seeing them fight.

Ye and couldnt even make weight at a weight class ABOVE the one he fights at. Pretty pathetic actually.

I highly doubt a multiple time world champion MMA fighter is afraid of a potential opponent.
