What the hell is going on lately? What gives? Seems like some new scandal is coming out every time I log on facebook or something I see some sexual assault controversy involving BJJ instructors or famous guys. Actually I'm not really sure on the details about Mike? What gives. Always thought his game was pretty cool.

Seems like he dated the chick in question about 3 years and they sent each other nudes. Now she’s claiming sexual harassment and posting his dick pics.

Yeah. Why isn’t anyone going after her for revenge porn. When a guy posts nudes of chick it’s called revenge porn. When a female posts a dude nude it’s called justice.

Probably because men don’t have to worry about “slut shaming “

Every rational person I’ve heard talk about this has basically brushed this off as an interpersonal relationship that’s gone wrong in the digital world.

My takeaway is “it’s not wrong to date someone you train with, but it’s definitely not smart. “

Oh, and my second takeaway is “dick pics are forever. “

Aka 'regret rape'.

That and “don’t get easily-identifiable tattoos near your junk.”

My thoughts so far are the same.

From what I can tell, I think he was probably sincerely trying to pursue a relationship with this girl. I can't say I know the details, but it seems from her account that they may have gone on several dates beforehand.

It seems he backed off immediately as soon as he realized his mistake. I'm not seeing an abuse of power here with threats and coercion. I'm seeing a misreading of signals.

The only argument for abuse of power is that he was her instructor first. I get the dynamic that is in play, and I don't personally agree with dating your students. I would even be fine if we had a standard policy against it. But we don't. So it's not fair to hold him to a standard that does not exist.

I don't like the revenge porn aspect of her posting those pics either. But since he is a man he probably won't be hurt as much by them since society uses different standards about pics like that. That's not fair to women, but it's also not something that the BJJ community is well positioned to solve either.

I could not have IDed him for sure just on those tattoos alone. Although maybe I'm in the minority by not paying more attention to famous BJJ athletes' genital area tattoos?

I just saw some of the reactions to those pics and was surprised by how certain so many people seemed to be that it was him based on junk tattoos alone. It was all like "Oh yeah. That's Mike's dick for sure. I'd know that tiger anywhere!"

I didn't know that tiger. Although I guess I know it now.

Yea, I wasn't aware of the details, but this appears to be nothing more than a relationship gone bad. All these BJJ websites I follow keep reporting Mike in the worst light and calling it sexual harassment... Where's the harassment? This seems to be quite the injustice done to Mike. His name is going to be ruined. Anytime your name is attached to a label like that, it's devastating.

Man plays with fire; gets burned.

Judging just from Facebook, people are assuming the worst immediately.

I have to ask, why did you look at it?

This whole thing is ironic and it is interesting seeing how different the reactions and Grappling media coverage is.

He also already apologised to her and she accepted it. Now she comes out Years later with revenge porn. What he did was stupid, but I don’t think he had bad intentions.

I’ve seen far worse things from some famous Brazilian world champions who have crazy shit (videos of them jacking off, offering to trade sex for private) to girls whilst they are married. Or even requesting affiliate gyms to procure prosititutes for their visit. Fowler is nothing compared to how some of these other guys act.

People banging each other in BJJ and MMA gyms is absurdly common. Crazy chicks and dumb horny dudes are crazy common too. No idea why any of this is considered ''news''.

I saw it first come out on April Fool's Day. I was hoping it was going to be some sort of bad taste joke.

So you got an email titled "Mike Fowler Dick Pic" and you opened it up thinking it was an April fools joke?
*raises eyebrow*

Lol

For whatever reason it got posted on Reddit April 1 so there were a lot of comments that it might be a joke. Seemed real weird on the timing with that.

Who knows I might have clicked on it anyway on April 2 though.
