Call your Reps. Call your Senetors. Spread this shit far and wide. This is unacceptable.
$750 a month in housing allowance is a lot of money for someone working part time while in school. Losing it for 2 months in a row will fuck most people hard.Ok, what does the GI Bill have to do with going hungry and being evicted? It is an education benefit.
"The benefit is designed to help servicemembers and eligible veterans cover the costs associated with getting an education."
"The GI Bill is not considered Financial Aid in the traditional sense. College and University financial aid departments do not consider the GI Bill financial aid because it is normally paid directly to you, not the school. Most schools will require you to sign a promissory note or apply for student loans to pay them upfront. You will then be required to pay these loans - hopefully with your GI Bill payments."
Yes, there is a small housing allowance, but the money is to go towards education. Not food, not full rent, and not money to live on.

Wow! That is way more than I thought they would be receiving for a housing allowance, and why working part-time? Why not go to school part-time? But, again, the main question remains: Why are they going hungry? The GI Bill is not intended as a primary source of income. So, if the money goes to the soldier and not the school, guess how many will take advantage of that situation.
It might not be designed that way, but I’m sure there are a number of vets that do use the payments to live on. Can’t knock that though.Wow! When you are 23 and going to college, you get that fucking degree finished. I worked 24 hours a week and did 16-20 credits a semester to get out as fast as possible.Wow! Well, you get some idiot saying he is going hungry because he is not getting his GI Bill payment -- that is a big 'red' flag. $750 housing allowance while living with mom and dad. That is pocket, beer, or escort money. I had one guy on active duty working full-time, going to school at night, and raising a family.

If the dude is relying on his stipend to live then him not getting it each month like the VA said they would is a problem. Maybe its to his advantage to just go to school and not work. Maybe he has an internship that doesn’t pay but will be valuable to him down the road. All these are what if in this dudes life, I don’t know. But the fact remains that he isn’t getting what he was entitled to. It’s not any harder than that.
Was that one guy you worked with on active duty married? Did he live on base or off? Did they receive WICK? If he lived off base and didn’t receive BAH for a few months would he have been able to round up enough cash to make rent and food for his family?

The GI Bill payment should go directly to the school, not the individual.

Should they?

Reminds me of the Captain, a few years back, who got breast implants for the wife on the Government Credit Card.

The VA pays the school maximum in state tuition, or 23600 for private/foreign schools (more if the school is Yellow Ribbon participating).Wow!
