First Full Trailer for Disney’s FROZEN Starring Kristen Bell

Disney-Frozen-Full-Trailer-Dragonlord.jpg

Disney has released the first theatrical trailer for its upcoming animated film Frozen. Directed by Chris Buck (Tarzan) and Jennifer Lee (Wreck-It Ralph), the film features Kristen Bell as the voice of a young dreamer named Anna who teams up with Kristoff (Jonathan Groff), an extreme mountain man, to find the Snow Queen (Idina Menzel) and put an end to a spell that has trapped their kingdom in eternal winter. The trailer shows hints of a return to the fantastical, cynic-free films that Disney used to make, so here’s hoping we see more of that in subsequent trailers. The film also features the voices of Josh Gad, Alan Tudyk, Santino Fontana, and Chris Williams. Frozen opens in 3D on November 27th.

Frozen breaks the mold from all previous 52 animated Disney fairy-tale features by having not one but two intrepid, singing princesses. What's more, they're sisters, and their sibling relationship tends to run hot and cold. Literally. One has the magical power to create snow, and the other must stop her from turning their usually sunny kingdom into an icy wasteland. For the first time we have two Disney princesses pitted against one another. A few earlier Disney princesses did have siblings. But there have not been two princesses who were so integral to the story: both for good and for bad.

David Yates’ TARZAN Back on Track with Christoph Waltz as Villain

christoph-waltz-slice.jpg

Tarzan may be swinging into theaters in a couple of years after all. Director David Yates had been developing the project since 2012 as his follow-up to Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2, but earlier this year word came that Warner Bros. was putting the brakes on Tarzan due to budget concerns. The future of the project was uncertain as potential filming was pushed to 2014, but now it appears that things are back on track as Christoph Waltz has entered talks to take on the villain role opposite Alexander Skarsgard, with an official greenlight potentially imminent.

The folks over at Variety report that Christoph Waltz is in talks to play the villain role in Yates’ Tarzan, a military figure that crosses paths with Skarsgard’s titular character. While Jessica Chastain was previously in the mix to play female lead Jane, apparently Emma Stone and The Wolf of Wall Street star Margot Robbie are now among the actresses currently being considered for the role. Offers have not gone out to Stone or Robbie, so the likelihood of either actress signing on is unclear.

Michael B. Jordan Eyed for Major Role in INDEPENDENCE DAY 2

Michael-B-Jordan-Independence-Day-2-Dragonlord.jpg

It appears that rising star Michael B. Jordan may be fighting aliens in the near future. The Wrap reports that the actor is being eyed for a major role in director Roland Emmerich’s sci-fi sequel Independence Day 2. The specifics of his role are not revealed, but Emmerich previously stated that the follow-up would be taking place 20 years after the original film and would follow the children of the adult Independence Day characters. A few weeks ago, it was reported that Will Smith was in talks to possibly joining the sequel.

The Wrap’s report notes that Jordan has yet to receive an offer from 20th Century Fox, so the casting is still in the early stages. That being said, this would definitely be a big career get for Jordan. The actor has earned deservedly high praise for his starring role in this summer’s Fruitvale Station. Jordan recently agreed to reteam with his Fruitvale director Ryan Coogler on the Rocky spinoff Creed, though it’s unclear when exactly production will begin. Emmerich recently suggested that Independence Day 2 will probably be pushed off its 2015 release date to 2016, which means production might not get underway until late next year.

Bryce Dallas Howard in Early Talks to Star in JURASSIC WORLD

Bryce-Dallas-Howard-Joins-Jurassic-World-Dragonlord.jpg

The Wrap reports that Bryce Dallas Howard is in early talks to star in director Colin Trevorrow’s new film Jurassic World. Howard is apparently negotiating to tackle one of the lead roles in the film, and it will definitely be nice to see a female-led tentpole for a change. Back when Universal decided to push the release date of Jurassic World from 2014 to 2015, Howard and David Oyelowo (The Butler) had reportedly met with producers for the lead roles in the pic, so one wonders if news of Oyelowo entering official negotiations isn’t far off.

Plot details for Jurassic World are practically non-existent at this point, but we do know that the film will possibly be heading back to Isla Nublar. Howard has been working more as a director as of late with a series of short films, as her last two screen credits as an actress are the 2011 films 50/50 and The Help. Jurassic World will open in theaters on June 12, 2015.

First Look at Meryl Streep as the Witch from INTO THE WOODS

She’s not nice, she’s just right, she’s the witch. Check out the first photo of Meryl Streep as The Witch in the upcoming film version of the Stephen Sondheim/James Lapine musical Into the Woods. Rob Marshall (Chicago) is directing the film, which started production this week in the U.K. In the photo above, Streep takes on a terrifying yet high-style version of the character –which was originated by Bernadette Peters on Broadway in 1987 — complete with yellowing talon-like nails and a feathery frock.

The musical is a twisted fairy tale featuring a number of classic characters including Cinderella, Rapunzel, Jack (of beanstalk fame), and Little Red Riding Hood, all connected by The Witch’s powers. Streep joins Johnny Depp (as the Wolf), Anna Kendrick (as Cinderella), Chris Pine (as Cinderella’s Prince), and Emily Blunt (as the Baker’s Wife) in the film, which is scheduled for a Christmas 2014 release.

GRAVITY Featurettes Explains Why You Must See It in IMAX 3D

Gravity-Featurette-0926-Dragonlord.jpg

Gravity is just a little more than a week away from blowing the world's collective mind, so if you aren't already looking forward to the new masterpiece from Alfonso Cuaron, you better start now. Soon it won't be as cool to love Gravity because everyone will already be talking about it, so get on it! A new featurette from AMC Theatres does a good job at previewing the movie without give too much away, but if you're totally spoiler-phobic, it's best to stay away from pretty much any promotional material for Gravity. You should just find your nearest IMAX screen and see it the day that it opens.

One of the dozen or so revolutionary things that Gravity does is find an actual purpose for 3-D. It's not overdone. When Cuaron does use it, he does so in a meaningful way that communicates space. A wrench will fly just out of someone's grasp or space debris will cloud their area. It's enough to make you forget how much you hate 3-D. In the featurette, Cuaron, Sandra Bullock, and producer David Heyman discuss the film’s 3D and what it brings to the picture. Gravity opens in 2D, 3D, and IMAX 3D on October 4th.

In the second behind-the-scenes look at the film, we see Cuaron discuss using the immersive IMAX format to bring his story to the screen, and we also see a few astronauts talk about the accuracy with which Cuaron depicted space. The filmmaker says his greatest influence on Gravity was the Hubble 3D IMAX documentary, and indeed the images captured in the film really feel like you’re there floating in space alongside Bullock’s Dr. Ryan Stone.

Cam Neely Returns for DUMB AND DUMBER TO; Milan Lucic to Join?

Cam-Neely-Dumb-and-Dumber-Dragonlord.jpg

Dumb and Dumber To is showing some love to minor characters from the original. Yesterday, we got a photo of a grown-up Brady Bluhm, who played the blind Billy in 4C. Today, JimCarreyOnline.com is reporting that former Bruins right wing Cam Neely will be reprising his role as angry trucker Sea Bass. Filming on Dumber and Dumber To is underway with Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels returning to play Lloyd Christmas and Harry Dunne, respectively. Laurie Holden is set to co-star as the female lead.

The site is also reporting there are rumors swirling around that fellow Bruin Milan Lucic could make an appearance as Sea Bass’ son. This is something Lucic has been pushing for for quite some time. Knowing the sequel was in the works, he approached Bobby Farrelly last June about writing in a part for him to play. "Lucic said, 'Listen, I heard you’re going to do a sequel to Dumb and Dumber. I want to be son of Seabass'," recalled Bobby Farrelly. "I looked at him and thought, 'You know what? That’s not a bad idea.' Because he looks a lot like Cam, plays a lot like Cam. I’ve got to convince my brother. We need to figure out a way to make it work."

Wow Foxcatcher looks awesomely, effectively creepy. I remember reading Kurt Angles autobiography and his talking about John DuPont and that whole incident. Pretty sure angle trained at that same facility.

Delayed till 2014? The beginning of the year I hope, Dragon, cause otherwise Miller is going to take his film out of contention for major awards just like Scorsese.

Yep, shame about Foxcatcher no longer eligible for this year's Oscars. But at the same time, it still wouldn't matter since I foresee 12 Years a Slave winning Best Picture.

Rob Riggle to Play Twins in Farrelly's DUMB AND DUMBER TO

Rob-Riggle-Joins-Dumb-and-Dumber-To-Dragonlord.jpg

In the past few weeks, we’ve seen Dumb and Dumber To will feature returns from Billy in 4C (pretty bird, pretty bird) and possibly Sea Bass (kick his ass!). Today, THR reports that Rob Riggle has nabbed one of the last major roles in the sequel to the 1990s comedy classic being directed by Peter and Bobby Farrelly. Riggle has the plum part of playing twins, a handyman named Travis and his unstable brother, Captain Lippencott.

Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels are reprising their roles as dim-witted best friends Lloyd and Harry who hit the road to find Harry’s long-lost daughter to donate a kidney for a transplant. Kathleen Turner, Rachel Melvin, Laurie Holden and Steve Tom are already on board the movie, which is shooting in Atlanta. The screenplay is written by the Farrellys, Bennett Yellin and Mike Cerrone. Sean Anders and John Morris penned an earlier draft.

Riggle is known for his scene-stealing performances and has grabbed the spotlight in comedies such as The Hangover and 21 Jump Street. He recently wrapped Fox’s Let’s Be Cops and is slated to return for 22 Jump Street.

Jennifer Lawrence to Have a Cameo in DUMB AND DUMBER TO

Jennifer-Lawrence-Image-600x200-Dragonlord.jpg

Harry and Lloyd are adding some Oscar-winning star power to Dumb and Dumber To. Jennifer Lawrence is making a cameo in the sequel, The Hollywood Reporter has learned, reporting to the Atlanta set to play a young version of Kathleen Turner's character. Lawrence's Hunger Games: Mockingjay set is nearby, and sources say the entire cast has visited the Dumb and Dumber To location.

The sequel to Peter and Bobby Farrelly's 1994 comedy classic will follow Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels' dimwitted duo as they embark on another road trip to find Harry's long-lost daughter. Rob Riggle is also among the cast, which includes Turner, Rachel Melvin, Laurie Holden and Steve Tom. Dumb and Dumber To is set for a 2014 release via Universal.

Lawrence will be seen next in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire and recently completed filming David O. Russell's American Hustle and X-Men: Days of Future Past. She is in production on the third and fourth installments in Lionsgate's Hunger Games franchise. In an interview with Jimmy Fallon, Lawrence said that Dumb and Dumber was among her favorite comedies. "I know every word to Dumb and Dumber, Step Brothers and Anchorman," she said. Challenged by Fallon to recite a specific line from Dumb and Dumber, Lawrence responded right on cue.
