Grand Budapest Hotel....dat cast....

I'm a big fan of everything Wes Anderson, but I can't help but think that all those A-listers will weigh this thing down.

Re: Cruise & Pitt...nobody wants to see movies about car racing. Rush was critically acclaimed and lost money. Would it have done better with Pitt & Cruise? Of course it would have. It would have cost $100,000,000 more to make, too.

If you're going to put these 2 together again make it something we want to see instead of something you want to sell.

We waited decades for Pacino and DeNiro to share the screen, we can wait awhile longer until these 2 share it a second time.

THE PURGE Sequel Adds Michael Kenneth Williams and More

Michael-Kenneth-Williams-1-Dragonlord-1.jpg

The sequel to Universal and Blumhouse's The Purge has added Boardwalk Empire actor Michael K. Williams, Sparkle star Carmen Ejogo, Friday Night Lights actor Zach Gilford and A Perfect Getaway actress Kiele Sanchez to its cast. The sequel, which will hit theaters on Friday, June 20, 2014, will see the return of writer-director James DeMonaco. It was recently announced that Frank Grillo will star.

Returning alongside writer-director-producer DeMonaco and Jason Blum to produce the next chapter of the thriller are Sebastien Lemercier and Michael Bay's Platinum Dunes. The sequel should reside in a similar setting to the original, where, once a year, there's a 12-hour period when all crime is allowed and condoned. When The Purge, made on a budget of $3 million, opened in theaters in June, it earned a stunning $34 million in its debut, setting a new record for original R-rated horror.

Paul Rudd to Star in Edgar Wright's ANT-MAN as Hank Pym

Paul-Rudd-Ant-Man-1218-Dragonlord.jpg

After months of speculation, Paul Rudd has landed the lead in Marvel’s Ant-Man and is in early talks to play Hank Pym, multiple sources have told TheWrap. Edgar Wright is directing the movie from a script he co-wrote with Joe Cornish, and Disney will release the film on July 31, 2015. Kevin Feige will produce for Marvel. In the comics, Pym was a founding member of The Avengers along with his girlfriend and crime-fighting partner, Janet Van Dyne, aka Wasp. Together, they took on a number of bad guys on their own, but played a big part in taking down Pym’s own robotic creation, Ultron, when it developed a taste for rebellion.

In recent interviews to promote Anchorman 2 as well as his recent stint hosting Saturday Night Live, Rudd has appeared noticeably slimmer, and sources tell TheWrap that’s because he’s training for the physical role of Ant-Man. Rudd and Joseph Gordon-Levitt have been considered the frontrunners for the coveted role since October, though Gordon-Levitt has appeared in several comic book adaptations and is gearing up for another one in WB’s Sandman. Rudd is more of a natural fit for the comedic character, and his SNL episode represented a season high in terms of viewers.

Bryan Singer Brings X2 Scribes to Pen X-MEN: APOCALYPSE

X-Men-Apocalypse-Screenwriters-Dragonlord.jpg

X-Men: Days of Future Past doesn't hit theaters for another five months, and already Bryan Singer is teasing further X-Men: Apocalypse development on Twitter, where the director announced the 2016 sequel earlier this month. "Late night #XMen #Apocalypse story session. #SimonKinberg @DanimalHarris @Mike_Dougherty It's snowing in Egypt!" the tweet read, including a photo of Singer and Days of Future Past scribe Simon Kinberg, who 20th Century Fox tapped recently to pen a rewrite of The Fantastic Four reboot, and help create their own shared Marvel Cinematic universe.

Also featured in the Twitter post are screenwriters Dan Harris and Michael Dougherty, who wrote the screenplay for Bryan Singer's first X-Men sequel (2003) and his Superman Returns (2006). While X-Men: Apocalypse arrives on May 26, 2016, the film is expected to be set up in the closing moments of X-Men: Days of Future Past on May 23, 2014.

Disney Sets MOANA for 2018, CGI Style Similar to PAPERMAN

Animation takes a long time, and studios look ahead years in advance. Disney Animation Studios, which recently released the amazing Frozen, already has their eye on 2018. According to io9, the studio plans to release Moana (pronounced Mo-AH-na) in five years, and it sounds like it will be another interesting spin on a princess film, although a source tells Bleeding Cool that this story “is fresh and original, not a fairytale movie”. Here’s the logline:

“The main character will be Moana Waialiki, a sea voyaging enthusiast, and the only daughter of a chief in a long line of navigators. When her family needs her help, she sets off on an epic journey. The film will also include demi-gods and spirits taken from real mythology.”

As you can probably guess from the title character’s name, John Musker and Ron Clement (Aladdin, The Princess and the Frog) will be taking their story “across a series of islands in the South Pacific”. io9 also reports that the story will be set around 2,000 years ago. Bleeding Cool adds there might also be “a Tiki carving as a character.”

First Teaser Trailer for Patrick Hughes' THE EXPENDABLES 3

fdac0j.jpg

Lionsgate has released a teaser trailer for director Patrick Hughes’ action sequel The Expendables 3. The follow-up finds Sylvester Stallone’s Barney Ross and his Expendables crew squaring off against Ross’ old partner Conrad Stonebanks, played by Mel Gibson. There’s no hint of that story in this first teaser trailer as the cast is simply too large to give everyone screentime in the time allotted. Taking that into account, everyone and their mother is wheeled out to strike an action pose in what’s essentially a cast introduction. The film also stars Wesley Snipes, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Kelsey Grammer, Antonio Banderas, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture, Terry Crews, Kellan Lutz, Ronda Rousey, Victor Ortiz, and Glen Powell. The Expendables 3 opens on August 15, 2014.

Synopsis: In The Expendables 3, Barney (Stallone), Christmas (Statham) and the rest of the team comes face-to-face with Conrad Stonebanks (Gibson), who years ago co-founded The Expendables with Barney. Stonebanks subsequently became a ruthless arms trader and someone who Barney was forced to kill… or so he thought. Stonebanks, who eluded death once before, now is making it his mission to end The Expendables — but Barney has other plans. Barney decides that he has to fight old blood with new blood, and brings in a new era of Expendables team members, recruiting individuals who are younger, faster and more tech-savvy. The latest mission becomes a clash of classic old-school style versus high-tech expertise in the Expendables’ most personal battle yet.

First Teaser Trailers for TRANSCENDENCE Starring Johnny Depp

33oiihd.jpg

Warner Bros. has released the teaser trailer for the sci-fi thriller, Transcendence. The film revolves around a group of scientists trying to build the first self-aware supercomputer, and when lead researcher Dr. Will Caster (Johnny Depp) becomes the target of anti-technology extremists, he unexpectedly becomes a participant in his own transcendence. The film also stars Paul Bettany, Rebecca Hall, Kate Mara, Cillian Murphy, Clifton Collins, Jr., and Morgan Freeman. Transcendence opens in 2D and IMAX on April 17, 2014. [Update: A second teaser trailer has been released featuring narration by Morgan Freeman.]

Cinematographer Wally Pfister is making his directorial debut with the picture, and when it comes to a teaser trailer, it looks like he’s taking a page from frequent collaborator Christopher Nolan. Pfister is going even further than Nolan by not even showing a few seconds of footage and just hinting at the concept of the movie. Audiences are going to be in for a lot of new trailers when they head to the theater for Christmas Day new releases, and it's not sure if this trailer will be intriguing or confusing for those unfamiliar with the film.

I SAW THE DEVIL Gets an English-Language Remake

I-Saw-the-Devil-1219-Dragonlord.png

Press Release: Adi Shankar and Spencer Silna’s 1984 Private Defense Contractors has acquired English language remake rights to 2010 South Korean Kim Jee Woon (The Good, The Bad, The Weirdand A Tale of Two Sisters) helmed revenge thriller I Saw the Devil, which is widely regarded as the most violent and elaborate revenge story ever told onscreen. Rather than just finding the criminal, killing him, and ending the story, I Saw the Devil asks the question “what if the hero becomes the criminal?” Focusing on the characters rather than the mystery of finding the criminal, I Saw the Devil details the journey of vengeance beyond all realms of sanity. The realistic and brutal violence is one of the most explicit displays of violence ever seen on film.

In the 2010 Korean original, Oldboy’s Choi Min-sik plays Kyung-chul, a dangerous psychopath who kills for pleasure. The embodiment of pure evil, he has committed horrifying and senselessly cruel serial murders on defenseless victims, successfully eluding capture by the police. His latest victim is the beautiful Ju-yeon, pregnant fianc

Chris Hemsworth and Pregnant Wife Almost Died in New Movie

Elsa-Pataky-Chris-Hemsworth-Rush-Premiere-Dragonlord.jpg

Chris Hemsworth is currently working on his newest movie, In the Heart of the Sea, with Rush director Ron Howard. However, production of the film keeps getting threatened. Fist, Hemsworth and his pregnant wife Elsa Pataky (Fast Five) were aboard a ship that wrecked ashore, then the Thor star narrowly escaped a typhoon. The typhoon lead to a massive mudslide that tragically killed five in the Canary Island.

Ron Howard tweeted about the incident, saying: “Rare heavy rain in La Gomera forced us to our small converted cover stage… Then our access road began to flood… Soon we were advised to wrap and evacuate. Pronto. Asap” This wasn’t the first near-tragedy to affect the film. Hemsworth and his pregnant wife were onboard a boat that ran aground last month. Fortunately, the family and all other passengers were rescued by the local coastguards.

In the Heart of the Sea is based on the book by American writer Nathaniel Philbrick, which tells the true story of the loss of the whaling ship Essex in the Pacific Ocean in 1820. The ship was attacked by a sperm whale and the tragic event is said to have inspired Herman Melville's Moby Dick. In the Heart of the Sea is scheduled for a theatrical release on March 13 of 2015.

Comments: And for those wondering, yes, Chris lost a lot of weight for the role in Ron Howard's In the Heart of the Sea. Below is a tweet image taken last November on the set. Chris will bulk up again next year as production starts on Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Shia LaBeouf's New Short Plagiarizes Daniel Clowes' Comic

2jc7z8k.jpg

Shia LaBeouf is at the center of a plagiarism controversy after graphic novelist Daniel Clowes has accused the star of borrowing shamelessly from his 2007 comic, Justin M. Damiano, for a short film directed by the Charlie Countryman star. That film, Howard Cantour -- which follows the inner dialogue of a disgruntled film critic -- debuted last May at the Cannes Film Festival, where no one in attendance seemed to notice that the characters and dialogue had been lifted directly from Clowes' panels. But when the film debuted online on Monday, the Internet was quick to take notice.

Jacqueline Cohen, director of publicity and promotions for Fantagraphics Books, Inc., Clowes' publisher, calls the film "a complete rip-off" of Justin M. Damiano, and says Clowes was never approached by LaBeouf to authorize the work's adaptation. "He had no knowledge that he had been plagiarized until today when the film was posted on Vimeo," Cohen tells THR. As word quickly spread of LaBeouf's alleged intellectual property theft, due in part to a story on BuzzFeed, the short film was quickly blocked from view on Vimeo, its hosting site. BuzzFeed is hosting Howard Cantour, which stars Jim Gaffigan as a self-loathing film critic, in its entirety.

Update: LaBeouf has apologized on Twitter for the controversy, writing in a series of tweets that his "excitement and naivete" led him to forget to "follow proper accreditation." His full statement follows:

"Copying isn't particularly creative work. Being inspired by someone else's idea to produce something new and different IS creative work. In my excitement and naivet
