The first trailer for the summer action comedy Lazer Team has been released. BLUE THUNDER Remake On the Way From Sony Pictures

Blue-Thunder-Blu-Ray-Cover-Dragonlord.jpg

Columbia Pictures is bringing a remake of the 1983 action thriller Blue Thunder to the big screen. But this time, the airborne surveillance weapon will be a world's most advanced drone instead of a tricked out helicopter. Craig Kyle, a former Marvel Studios executive and writer, will pen a modern-day take on the film that starred Roy Scheider.

John Badham directed the original Blue Thunder for Columbia, which centered on the pilot (Scheider) of a military-style combat helicopter nicknamed "Blue Thunder," which was configured for police use to combat against possible large-scale civil disobedience during the 1984 Olympic Games held in Los Angeles. Blue Thunder also spawned a 1984 TV series that lasted 11 episodes.

Given the exploding use of drone technology and the expansion of surveillance on U.S. soil, the new take is certainly timely. Hollywood has been looking to bring drone use, which has sparked major debate in the media, to the big screen.

Drone films on the horizon include the Ethan Hawke starrer Good Kill, which IFC will release on May 15, and Gavin Hood's Eye in the Sky (with an ensemble cast that includes Helen Mirren, Alan Rickman and Barkhad Abdi). But Blue Thunder could mark the first drone project for a major studio and one with presumably a much bigger budget.

'Blue Thunder' Remake Kicks Off Drone-Themed Film Frenzy; Kraig Kyle to Pen Script

Comments: I loved Blue Thunder (movie) as a kid. This was the era of the tricked-out vehicles during the 80s. I also gobbled up the other similar shows like Knight Rider, Airwolf and Street Hawk.

MAD MAX: FURY ROAD Officially Rated R; International Trailer

Mad-Max-Fury-Road-031915-Dragonlord.jpg

A new Mad Max: Fury Road international trailer has landed online. The follow-up/reboot finds George Miller returning to the director’s chair and staging an entire movie built around one chase scene. As you can see from this trailer and the ones before it, the movie looks totally bonkers in the best way possible. Hopefully the story in between is strong enough to carry the lunacy on display.

Additionally, the MPAA has decided that the film is crazy enough for an R-rating because it features "intense sequences of violence throughout, and for disturbing images." While its R-rating may make the film seem like an outlier in the summer blockbuster season, it could work in the movie’s favor as a bit of aggressive counterprogramming.

The film opens May 15th, and stars Tom Hardy, Charlize Theron, Nicholas Hoult, Riley Keough, Zoe Kravitz, Courtney Eaton, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Hugh Keays-Byrne, Nathan Jones, and Abbey Lee Kershaw.

Fraggle Rock, the long-in-the-works adaptation of the Jim Henson 1980s puppet TV show, is getting a shot in the arm with the help of Joseph Gordon-Levitt. The actor has come aboard to star in and produce the feature adaptation. He joins New Regency and The Henson Co., who also are producing.

Rock was a Canadian series that became a hit internationally (it played on HBO in the U.S.). It followed the adventures of a group of cave-dwelling puppet creatures called Fraggles. In their world was a race of small, industrious creatures named Doozers, who lived in the caves, as well as the Gorgs, furry giants who looked at Fraggles as nuisances.

Regency initially partnered with Ivan Reitman

First Footage from the Live-Action ATTACK ON TITAN Movie

Attack-on-Titan-Fan-Poster-Dragonlord.jpg

A Japanese television program has broadcast the first look at footage from the Attack On Titan live-action films. Come see the giant humanoid creatures that go around scooping up humans and eating them. The two Attack On Titan live-action films will arrive in Japanese theaters this summer.

Attack On Titan began in 2009 as manga and then branched out into light novels, animes, video games. The manga and anime have become a commercial success, receiving critical acclaim for its atmosphere and story. Although it also gained fame in neighboring Asian countries, the series' themes have been a subject of controversy.

In December 2012, it was reported that Tetsuya Nakashima has left his position as director of the live-action film. According to film distributor Toho, Nakashima had considerable creative differences on the scriptwriting and other matters. In December 2013 Shinji Higuchi was revealed to be directing, and would also be responsible for special effects. Yūsuke Watanabe (Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods) and critic/subculture expert Tomohiro Machiyama will be scripting the movie with series creator Isayama.

First Footage From Attack On Titan Live-Action Film Revealed

Looks like absolute shit. Almost as bad as that abortion of anime.

It's a bit old, but did anyone else catch the comedy Carnage with Jodie Foster, John C Reilly, Kate Winslett and Christoph Waltz? I had never heard of it and it was one of the funniest movies I've seen in years. Really, really subtle and it's all dialogue between the 4 characters in basically 1 room. Seems like it could have been a play if it wasn't already based on one.

IT FOLLOWS Getting a Wide Release; VOD Release Delayed

Radius-TWC, a major proponent of video-on-demand movies, has bet instead on expanding its sexy teen horror film It Follows the old-school way — in theaters. No one at The Weinstein Company’s niche label was talking Thursday, but it has decided to delay the film’s planned March 27 video-on-demand release, and will expand It Follows into roughly 40 theaters on Friday and aim for 1,000 theaters in two weeks, according to insiders.

Getting the micro-budgeted horror film into more theaters as quickly as possible became a priority for Radius after it posted the year’s best debut at the specialty box office last weekend. It Follows took in $160,000 in three days from four art house theaters — two in L.A. and two in New York. Major theaters typically insist on exclusive runs, so to get the major circuits meant Radius would have to delay the streaming date, which was never set in stone.

It Follows, written and directed by David Robert Mitchell, has been attracting attention since its premiere at the Cannes Film Festival last year. It’s a big hit with critics at 95 percent positive on Rotten Tomatoes. Most call it genuinely scary and laud its thought-provoking plot, which involves teens pursued in excruciating fashion by a slogging, ominous presence after they’ve had sex.

Yeah, the film is based on the Tony award-winning play God of Carnage. I only watched the first 10 minutes of the film a few years ago and forgot to follow up on it.

God, i regret to this day when i watched 15 minutes of that piece of steaming dog shit somebody called a "movie" Nymphomaniac

"Nymphomaniac" is one of those movies where it was supposed to be something artsy about sexual characters, but it ended up becoming porn.

A movie which succeeded was a Spanish movie called "Diary of a Nymphomaniac" which came out a few years ago. It shows on HBO and Sundance sometimes- not often enough. It's incredibly well written, well directed, and the lead actress was great.

First Full Trailer for MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE ROGUE NATION

Mission-Impossible-Rogue-Nation-032215b-Dragonlord.jpg

Paramount has released the first full-length trailer for Mission: Impossible 5, now officially titled Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation. Whereas Brad Bird’s Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol put a heavy emphasis on gadgets, Rogue Nation director Christopher McQuarrie appears to be pushing the new sequel towards a more hard-boiled approach that leans heavily on fisticuffs and destroying the hell out of motorcycles.

The new flick finds Hunt’s highly effective but destructive Impossible Mission Force (IMF) disbanded by vengeful Washington bureaucrats such as the CIA chief (played by Alec Baldwin). But Hunt pulls his team together (Jeremy Renner, Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames and newcomer Rebecca Ferguson) to battle the shadowy force known as "The Syndicate" and its elusive leader (Sean Harris).

Believe it or not, that’s Cruise himself taking a casual stroll along the wing of an Airbus A400, the same plane he’s seen hanging on to by his fingertips in the trailer and set photos: "I've often sat on airplanes, looked out and thought, 'What it would be like out there on the wing?' … "That’s me the whole time. I was standing right over the tires when we landed. It’s nerve-racking for everyone else, but pretty exciting for me." Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation opens July 31st.

MI Ghost Protocol was a really fun action movie, this saga has come a long way since 1, 2 and 3 which sucked alot, at this point IMO Cruise is solid as an action star even tho he is really tiny, he was the bomb on jack reacher and collateral, really hope Mission Impossible keeps going and going, im a fan of fun action flicks like these and fast and the furious

Back in the 80's, who would have thought in 20-30 years, Tom Cruise would become an action start (the closest he got to that back then was Top Gun) and that his movies would do better than Stallone's or Schwarzenegger's (even with both in the same movie).

Quite frankly, I've never been a big fan of his MI movies. I wish they went back to it being more about the team. I mean, he does work with other people but it is still largely the Tom Cruise show (his name sales so I understand). I was specially not too crazy about Ghost Protocol. For being a team of 4-5 specialized agents, they surely struggled a lot with one old man and one middle age henchman.
