David Callaham Joins Patty Jenkins and Geoff Johns to Write WONDER WOMAN 2

uVfKo7h.jpg

Dave Callaham, the co-writer of action movie The Expendables, has joined Patty Jenkins and Geoff Johns on the writing team of Wonder Woman 2.

The move comes just days after Jenkins officially closed her deal to co-write, direct and produce the sequel to the Warner Bros. movie that earned more than $816 million worldwide while also earning raves from critics and fans.

Jenkins and Johns have been working on a treatment for several months and Callaham will now join the duo to pen the script.

The storyline is being kept lassoed, but Jenkins has said she wants to jump ahead by several decades from the first film’s World War I and European setting. She has stated in interviews said she would like to make America the setting during the Cold War. And she has reportedly said that having the heroine’s signature invisible jet in a movie is of key importance.

Jenkins and Callaham already have a strong working relationship and it was Jenkins that brought the writer into the fold. Jenkins was working with him on Jackpot, an English-language adaptation of a book by Jo Nesbo; that project was gearing up to be Jenkins’ next movie before she took on the assignment to direct Wonder Woman.

Callaham, in addition to originating Expendables, had a story by credit on the 2014 movie Godzilla and worked on a reboot of The Wolfman that is due to be part of Universal’s monster cinematic universe. He is also a writer-executive producer of the Amazon action comedy series Jean Claude van Johnson.

Angela Robinson to Adapt Terry Moore's STRANGERS IN PARADISE

Angela Robinson is partnering with cartoonist Terry Moore to adapt his long-running graphic novel Strangers in Paradise for a feature film.

Robinson’s Professor Marston and the Wonder Women, an origin story of the man who created Wonder Woman and the women who inspired the character, is premiering at the Toronto Film Festival. The movie, starring Luke Evans, Rebecca Hall, and Bella Heathcote, will be released by Annapurna on Oct. 13.

Strangers in Paradise follows Katchoo, a beautiful young woman living a quiet life with everything going for her. She’s smart, independent, and very much in love with her best friend, Francine. Then Katchoo meets David, a gentle but persistent young man who is determined to win Katchoo’s heart. The resulting love triangle is a touching comedy of romantic errors until Katchoo’s former employer comes looking for her and $850,000 in missing mob money.

“I’ve been wanting to adapt ‘Strangers in Paradise’ for over a decade, since the first time I read it and couldn’t put it down,” Robinson said. “Terry Moore writes real female characters with such breathtaking sensitivity. With ‘Strangers in Paradise,’ he pulls off the nearly impossible — a sexy, stylish crime story with tons of heart. I look forward to our collaboration!”

Moore’s series Rachel Rising was nominated for a 2012 Bram Stoker Award in the superior achievement in a graphic novel category by the Horror Writers Association.

Looks like a great Ridley Scott movie.

And I'm suprised Williams has a bigger part than Whalberg.

John Wick: Chapter Three officially has a release date.

Lionsgate will release Summit's third installment of the Keanu Reeves shooter franchise on May 17, 2019. It is the film series' first summer release. No plot details have yet been unveiled for the upcoming threequel.

John Wick: Chapter Three is currently the only studio project with that release date. Earlier that month, Disney will unveil a new Avengers movie and Sony's TriStar will release its adaptation of The Rosie Project, while Disney's Aladdin reimagining and Warner Bros.' Minecraft will be released afterward.

Following the eponymous Wick, the R-rated action series stars Reeves as a no-holds-barred ex-hitman who comes out of retirement to get retribution on gangsters who took away everything he loved. Chapter 2 found Wick fighting off bounty hunters seeking the large prize placed on his head.

Directed by David Leitch and Chad Stahelski, John Wick debuted in October 2014 and grossed $88 million worldwide. The sequel, helmed by Stahelski, grossed $171 million globally upon its release in February of this year.

Screenwriter Derek Kolstad, who wrote the first two films, will return to pen the third installment.

Jamie Lee Curtis Returns to HALLOWEEN, Gets October 19, 2018 Release Date

DJyQebaVoAAmFN8.jpg

Jamie Lee Curtis is returning to Halloween, the horror franchise that helped to launch her career.

"Jamie Lee Curtis returns to her iconic role as Laurie Strode in HALLOWEEN, released by Universal Pictures October 19, 2018. #HalloweenMovie," Blumhouse Productions tweeted Friday.

"Same porch. Same clothes. Same issues. 40 years later. Headed back to Haddonfield one last time for Halloween," Curtis tweeted.

David Gordon Green, the co-creator of HBO's Eastbound & Down and director of movies such as Pineapple Express and Our Brand Is Crisis, will helm a new movie with a script co-written by him and frequent collaborator Danny McBride. That announcement was made in February by John Carpenter, the co-creator of the franchise and director the 1978 original.

Blumhouse, Miramax and Trancas are the production entities involved. Carpenter will executive produce along with Gordon Green and McBride’s Rough House Pictures.

"David and Danny both came to my office recently with Jason Blum and shared their vision for the new movie and … WOW. They get it. I think you're gonna dig it. They blew me away," Carpenter wrote then. "I might even do the music. Maybe. It could be kind of cool. And you'll get to see it in theaters on October 19th, 2018."

Curtis has played Laurie Strode in multiple Halloween films. Her first appearance was in the classic 1978 original when the world was introduced to the mask-wearing, mental-patient mass-murderer Michael Myers.

Curtis subsequently played Laurie in Halloween II (1981), Halloween H20: 20 Years Later (1998) and Halloween: Resurrection (2002). She most recently appeared in Ryan Murphy's Fox horror comedy Scream Queens, which was canceled in May.

This is crucial.

There's a curse of 3rd movies in trilogies sucking, and the only exception I can think of is LOTR:ROTK.

The pressure is on to live up to the expections fans have to continue the best action movie ending in a very long while. It was almost The Dark Knight-esque.

Good to hear the studio is sticking with the same writer, who I bet is getting alot more in compensation since the first two movies have been hits.

But, uh, and spoiler alert, they killed *her* in that retcon garbage sequel Resurrection with Busta Rhymes.

Claire Foy Officially Cast as Lisbeth Salander in THE GIRL IN THE SPIDER'S WEB

Claire Foy is officially playing Lisbeth Salander in The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo sequel, The Girl in the Spider’s Web.

Variety first reported in May that Foy was the frontrunner for the gig as the precocious Swedish computer hacker.

The new installment of Sony Pictures’ Millennium franchise will commence production in January in Berlin and Stockholm, and the film will be released on Oct. 19, 2018.

The film will team Foy and director Fede Alvarez, who helmed 2016’s Don’t Breathe for Sony.

Foy is nominated for an Emmy for her portrayal of Queen Elizabeth in the Netflix series The Crown, from Sony Pictures Television. She previously won the Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild Award for the role. Foy also recently starred as Anne Boleyn in Wolf Hall and stars with Andrew Garfield in the drama Breathe, which premiered on Sept. 11 at the Toronto Film Festival.

The screenplay for Girl in the Spider’s Web was written by Steven Knight along the team of Alvarez & Jay Basu, based on David Lagercrantz’s bestseller. Amy Pascal and Elizabeth Cantillon will join Scott Rudin and Yellow Bird in producing the film.

The Girl in the Spider’s Web will be the first in the series to be produced into an English-language movie in its initial adaptation. The previous books in the franchise have been adapted into three Swedish-language films, starring Noomi Rapace. Sony’s The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, starring Rooney Mara and Daniel Craig, was a remake of the Swedish film of the same name.

The Girl in the Spider’s Web was published in 2015 and is the first novel in the series not authored by Stieg Larsson, the series’ creator and author of the first three Millennium books about Salander and journalist Mikael Blomkvist. Larsson died in 2004.

The studio continues its development of the next book in the Millennium series, The Girl Who Takes an Eye for an Eye, which was released this week. Sony’s Columbia Pictures retains the rights to all future Millennium series books.
