Naoya Inoue, the best teenage prospect?

my favorite ippo moment was the fight between one of the characters and a black fighter from the us .

before the fight his buddies were telling him that black americans dominate boxing ,and that he's as good as dead going into the fight because black folks are inherently slick and better at boxing .

how politically incorrect.

ippo sucks
theres literally like 1000 chapters and dude never even kisses his main love intrest

features boxers punching a tree into a hill
ippo is a terrible boxer but overcomes technique with just power and stick to it ness
ippo is basically just a mashup of every cheesy japanese cliche put in a boxing ring

on topic has anybody seen taguchi fight before? his record is good on paper this looks great but i would like to see something more tangible

Not to derail this thread, but, I do not agree at all.

I haven't read the manga, so I can't say what happens there. However, the Anime is great. It's funny, inspiring, goofy and actually shows real boxing knowledge and history. I for one like the "cliches" that are portrayed. And yes it does have them. Overcoming weakness of the mind, being bullied, getting stronger, but all these are presented in an excellent way.

Also, it's ranked 34th on animenewsnetwork, the highest of any sports Anime: http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=1139

I like Anime and I love boxing, so it's the perfect fit for me. And my favourite animes are things like Beserk, Ippo, Cowboy Bebop, FMA:Brotherhood, Code Geass, Monster and so forth. I also like the more Shounen and childish stuff though. DBZ was the first Anime I ever saw.

On topic: Inoue rule.

Japanese are ehh, forgive me for I've forgotten what the word for it was, but they're the most 'pure' nation in the world, as in they're not too fond of mix breeding. Of course as the plethora of free internet porno websites will tell you, there are plenty of exceptions, but Japanese tend to stick with Japanese and well, the lack of diversity definitely shows itself in the aforementioned political correctness of their media. Don't be fooled by Hajime no Ippo black characters, they're just the beginning . Americans (caucasians) included are so stereotypically exaggerated that it teeters from being offensive, to blatantly racist. Some not so subtle examples have hidden under our noses in the popular animes that have transcended beyond just the otaku audiences.

Here's a One Piece character. The above is the original, the bottom is the American edit.

Ignorance might've been a valid excuse for our child selves, but don't you dare try to justify Mr. Popo's existence as anything else.

And remember that pokemon with all the political correctness of a 1950's Warner Bros. cartoon.

Oh and yeah that Inoue guy is pretty cool.

when has is it ever shown real boxing knowledge or history?

the dempsey roll isnt a real thing you know
having super powerful toes isnt going to give you the ability to ko people but you will be limited because your super developed movements will be too much of a strain on your joints.
and every time i have seen a clip of the anime from the fights it is just like a recreation of rock em sock em robots
also no need to put cliches in quotes when they are cliches

righto again

lol i actually like this about the japanese you get all these butthurt stories from guys who go there and expect to get accepted right away and end up finding out what life is like as a minority
Here's his bout with a 0-1 Thai boxer:
hes definetley a live body which is great inoue has now challenged himself more than gary russel jr has
its hard to tell real talent though when your so much better than the opponent
still i like the looks of this fight

I quite like Japan but it's also probably the most openly racist and xenophobic developed country in the world... and for obvious reasons that filters into the media.

Well it shows boxing knowledge like so: When Ippo has to catch the leaves in the beginning with the jab, his breakthrough comes from noticing how Takamura relaxes his hand and shoulder completely before throwing it. Proper torque and twist on the hips when throwing the right hand, how the power comes from the legs and ground, chopping wood, roadwork, skipping, using faints, showing real moves, practicing with tennis balls, strengthening your feet by running in sand, I could go on and on.

It shows history by mentioning real boxers from old, like Dempsey and Tyson and how the different cultures primarily fights. Mentions the peekaboo style as well. The Japanese spirit. I can't remember it all.

Of course it's going to be exaggerated, it's a cartoon! It's not the history channel. And yes most of the fights are portrayed as hellish slugmatches, but that's half the fun.

You say you've seen "a clip from the Anime", so I take it you haven't seen the whole thing? Maybe not even several episodes?

Apparently Naoya will be fighting for a world title in his next bout!

Naoya Inoue in negotiations for a world title fight in April

sounds good inoue vs hernandez would be great and has the potential to be a very exciting fight maybe on the level of yamanaka iwasa

i watched the first season and i have read over 900 chapters of the manga and i think it is terrible
nothing you said refutes my main point either, it is no different from anyohter mainstream japanese crap it just eschews all the actual knowledge and just peppers on a little boxing flavor on top.

you read 900 chapters before deciding that it was terrible ? that's odd.

lol .

i think it's a pretty fun anime if you don't take it seriously .

but the greatest anime of all time is still kaiji .

And the new, WBC Light Flyweight champion!

Impressed. Technically sound as well as aggressive. He may just make me a fan.

The doubled-up right hand in this combo was just so pretty I had to gif it.

HeavenlyAnguishedKilldeer.gif

He's now a 2 weight world champion in 8 in fights. Impressive to say the least

mad i missed the fight, i thought it was tonight. damn you japanese timing! lol.
