There's a flaw in Intel, AMD, Apple chips that bad guys can take advantage of. I think they are called Meltdown and Spectre. The fix for old chips was some firmware update or o/s patch that slows down the CPU.

Next Hyper 212 prototype. The number behind it is the more impressive thing imo.

Noctua is coming out with black versions of the NH-D15, NH-U12S and NH-L9i coolers

Newegg has cheap Aigo DR12 120mm RGB fans 3 for $26. Aliexpress has 5 packs for $40 but you have the wait time.
I wouldn't expect much better than generic $6 fans, but they're RGB.

Fingers crossed this drives down the cost of the regular version for those of us who don't care.

    Everyone wins. Fantastic announcement.

Did you see they're working on a new NH-U12? It's supposed to use their new fans and be just as good as a NH-D15 but in a smaller package. It looks like bending over the fins on the end is going to be the new trend.

I look forward to an improvement, but I don't for one minute believe it will equal the D15.

I believe in the ground rules of the universe. Surface area is the ruling principle, here, as a matter of heat exchange, since all other materials and construction will be constant. 37% more is great, I'm sure, but we're talking 2 rads vs. 1.

Well the new 32 core Threadripper performance is bonkers at least according to people in China who have claims to have tested it. This is comparing the 28 core Intel chip that running stock and totally clobbers the 16 core Threadripper version. It looks like AMD has a winner on their hands and not far behind the liquid cooled 5 ghz workstation 28 core chip that Intel was claiming was going to be stock speed for their next generation consumer "Crazy high price" Intel chip. The liquid cooler on that Intel unit was nearly as big as the chassis of the 5 ghz PC used on stage.

"With stock speeds, HKEPC claims the scored 6,243 points in the same benchmark, which is way better than Intel’s competing chip that yielded a score of 5912 points with stock configured settings. Comparatively, the last generation Ryzen Threadripper 1950X – when tested at launch – only achieved a 2,956 point score in Cinebench R15."

While running with that 4.12GHz overclock, HKEPC says that the 2990X achieved a score of 6,399 points in Cinebench R15, not too far from the 7,334 point score that Intel’s 28-core part achieved on the Computex 2018 stage where it debuted.

Here is the photo of the cooling unit on the side of their 10,000 dollar 28 core workstation CPU that normal clock speed I believe is half 5 ghz. Intel showing signs of desperation with the heat they are getting from AMD especially with graphics and hiring so many former employees. I cannot even think about how much they are paying these people to come over to Intel.

It was too good to pass up. Now I have to decide on a color scheme.
    Edit: I’m thinking purple.

Are you gonna add an led strip or just use the lighting from your fans?

I’m going with a different case. If I go with a purple scheme, it’ll probably be an NZXT s340 or 440.
I had a strip in the htpc I posted above, but the fan lights overpowered it.
I have a strip in my main.

I had the s340, I'd recommend the Elite version. The acrylic on the regular s340 is terrible and scratches so easily.

Yeah relationship more like getting someone in new at the helm because the ship is sinking VS AMD and Nvidia. As much as gaming is fun the real money is in the server and backroom space and Intel getting clobbered and with the news that AMD plans on shipping the first 7nm chip to server customers by the beginning of 2019 or Q2 this poses to place AMD well ahead of Intel timeline. Intel needs to get 10nm chips out soon just for 3 to 6 months before AMD jumps to 10nm. They are already running 12nm and offering a competitive offering to the best of Intel's line.
