Newsweek: Clinton can still be President if Trump is found guilty

That certainly is a best case scenario. No matter what impeachment is called for.

But most fair minded people would like to see Mrs. Clinton get the job considering all the obstacles she had to overcome and she was basically groomed for the position

Very interesting... Hillary Clinton can still be the US President of today

Article IV, Section 4, Clause 2:

The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion; and on Application of the Legislature, or of the Executive (when the Legislature cannot be convened), against domestic Violence.

Rigging an election would probably constitute as an "invasion" of the democratic process, which would give cause to invoke an Application of Legislature. This might trigger a special election or the 25th Amendment.

Listen. I am not in glee about this. We are about to enter into a shit storm of biblical proportions.

You're still at the "bargaining" stage of greif. You need to move on to "acceptance".

The problem is that she didn't overcome those obstacles, or else she would've easily beat Trump.

She doesn't deserve it, especially with all the skeletons and bodies the Clinton's have.

Just so no one is confused by the title, the gist of the article is that a Harvard Law professor is of the opinion that, should Trump be impeached, that Pence also should, making Speaker of the House Paul Ryan the President. It is this Professor’s opinion that the only honorable thing for Ryan to do would be resign and hand the presidency to Clinton as a good will gesture. There is no actual mechanism in our government that would put her in charge.

Honorable.

Politician.

Pick one:rolleyes:

She is a woman that went on to become the most qualified Presidential candidate in history. Let that sink in

This scenario was already thought of. It goes to the Speaker of the House.
That should be how the interim pres is selected in emergencies until the real pres can be elected via special erection.

Newsweek: Sanders can still be President if Trump is found guilty.

FTFY, Newsweek.

By the logic of the idiot professor in the article. Since Brazile, Wasserman-Schultz others conspired with Clinton to rig the primaries against Sanders, then SANDERS should be the one nominated by speaker Ryan, not Hillary.

If he is found guilty, they will most likely call on Congress to enact the 25th Amendment, which would select a new President and that person would mostly switch up the current administration.

That's not how the 25th works. The Cabinet makes the decision and it has to be Pence who takes over. They don't have a choice in selection.

Actually Bush I was a more qualified presidential candidate when he ran.

I wish you would post more

special erection.

<{ohyeah}>

But in all seriousness, the presidency changes over every four years. Even if, absolutely worst case, the president and vp both get impeached their first year, you’re looking at a year or even two to set up a new election cycle. It just makes sense to have the Speaker run out the term and then just have the normally scheduled election. Besides the Speaker isn’t always of the same party as the president, so it can be a good way of changing things up as well.

And still lost to TWO political unknowns [Obama was practically unheard of at that point. He was just a Freshman Senator] and ofcourse Trump. Let that sink in.

lol could u imagine
It kind of makes sense.

Look I am no Hillary fan (think she is a war monger and the worst type of crony politician) but just saying Pence seems to ignore the nature of the crime.

If during the count Trump had one but an investigation launched instantly and it was found he had guys stuffing ballets or otherwise doing stuff to steal the election then his VP would not take over. It would be bad to let the Party benefit from the crime. The opposing candidate would get the nod.

so unless the argument here is that it is time sensitive and if you don't act right away then too bad, I am not seeing why it could not be possible if indeed Trump was found in some way complicit or guilty of colluding with the Russians to rig the election (or whatever that specific charge ends up being).

And ya I would hate looking at Hillary's smug face post.
