Sumo wrestling did a lot for Machida when it comes down to defending takedowns. It is a part of fighting.

Nobody who is a top ten fighter in MMA is F level. Just because y6ou are an uncoordinated couch potato does not mean MMA fighters are either.

I wonder if he thinks the same after someone tells him that MMA fighters don't get to stop every 10 seconds and have a break?

If this fight were to happen, it would look like Cain vs Brock. The only way that football player knows how to use his size is tackling. Even Brock at least knew how to wrestle. And he still got wrecked.

It's really annoying when guys who don't fight really think they can just jump in and beat the best.

Also, people keep bringing up Brock like some unskilled fighter as if the guy didn't spend his entire life wrestling.

    1) it is .. as is cardio, muscle endurance etc areas nfl guys are generaly very weak in

2)probably much worse than the adverage 300lb man who works out as hes geared for short bursts of power not long drawn out sessions

    3) as in the same way anyone else would man an athlete that is both fast and explosive but can last
Yes both are niche sports on opposite ends of the atheltic spectrum ....nfl guys are there on the extreme of one end with short bust tire out fast end like sprinters ,sumo , sttongmen and power lifters
Marathon guys are on the other end ....not terribly explosive but able to work for amazing displays of sheer muscle emdurance and cardio etc.

Brock had a legit wrestling background.

    A massive weight advantage

    Plus Randy was ancient.

If you think an athlete steps into any combat sport and automatically dominates you’re wrong.

How will he handle taking a punch/ kick mentally?

Can he adapt to a completely different type of movement? Does he have any aptitude for striking or grappling?

Too many questions to just assume an NFL guy would be any good.

    Harrison weighs 350lbs+

He would have to chop off both legs to come in at 266lbs. Just cause you're big doesn't mean you're guaranteed to win a fight.

Best tells the mods to shut down this thread. Once you’ve responded it’s game over.

Any other threads you’ve posted in today? Just so I know not to go into them because you’ve already responded

    1. Most NFL guys are not very weak in cardio. They run up and down the field at full speed all day long. Most 340 lb NFL lineman are weak in cardio compared to much smaller athletes, but not relative to their superheavyweight peers.

    2. You are delusional if you think NFL linemen have poor cardio compared to the average 300lber who works out.

and his NFL Combine stats were really impressive. So he was way more athletically gifted than the vast majority of NFL players, plus he knew how to wrestle.

Kony Ealy is a mid tier, mayb upper mid tier type NFL DL imo. The consensus on him has always been that he is a great athlete, but that his technique needs to get better for him to develop.

If you see a belly and think a guy is a bum, then you don't know shit about athleticism. Guy was first team All SEC. You don't get there by being a bum.

Here's his NFL combine video. http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-combine/0ap2000000333195/2014-Combine-workout-Kony-Ealy

The fact that NFL teams even looked at the guy when he didn't play college football is a testament to his athleticism. Very, very few people as big as Lesnar are as fast as Lesnar.

Probably true with a little training but he weighs 340 pounds. The UFC should have either no cap on hw or a super hw division. Sammy schilt was awesome but he could never make 265, he's like 7' tall

If I recall correctly he committed several really stupid penalties and caused problems off the field as well that probably stopped him from making the team. They still wanted him to spend a season in NFL Europe to work on his skills but he refused.
