NFL Lineman: "I could be a UFC champ and beat Stipe"

No. Randy Couture was a B level athlete for sure, but he was a natural LHW fighter. He only moved up to HW because he couldn't beat Chuck Liddel. Lesnar was probably an A level athlete, and also weighed 300 pounds. It was well documented that he cut ~30 pounds to make the 265 HW limit.

Lesnar beat Couture because of 1) better athletic genetics and 2) being much, much bigger. Couture weighed in at like 219 pounds for their fight... That means Lesnar had an 80 pound (!!!) weight advantage in that fight.
How much of a weight advantage did he have against Cain?

Lmao i wish this fight happens to shut up self proclaimed "a" level athletes claiming they could fight with 0 experience in any form of martial arts. Sick of hearing it

no randy is c level. lesnar is B. they were both heavyweights. randy beat Tim Sylvia for fucks sake who was 6/8" dont give me that fucking bs
What’s your criteria for A, B and C level athletes. What data and metrics are we using here? Just curious

<BronTroll1> .

ronda via armbar...under right circumstances

there are tons of great football athletes who make 0 in the nfl because they aren't 340 lbs. they are similar athletes who lack nfl size. dominating mma would give them millions. if it was easy.

lol at herschel.

and lesnar didn't play football and was still offered a development league spot. christian okoye was a dominant football player after playing like a year.
Lol, couldn't make a practice squad, but offered a spot in a D-League somewhere, instead becomes UFC Champ.

Can you even imagine what the (real) Nigerian Nightmare would have done to the UFC?

ok...make it happen dana...pick the best a level athlete and make a deal

That fat ass lineman would gas in under 2 minutes, guaranteed. He's used to getting a break after every 5-10 second play.
No whistles in the octagon, he'd be a fish out of water, literally- gasping for air.

Now a tight end, or big wide receiver... that might be a different story.

"A level" stars are now calling out "C-level" athletes of MMA. Floyd calling out Conor and now this guy calling out Stipe.
Floyd is not an A-level tho - Conor played with him, out boxed him, out sported him in his own sport when he had gas, and all on like 3 months notice. I get the analogy, but if anything, Conor is the proof of A level. Let's see Floyd last 4 out of 5 rounds vs Conor........oh wait, we all know he will last 10 seconds and be raped to the death.

This is one of those A-level athletes you Americans always rave about ?

Ironically he could probably run as fast or faster than you depending on the linebacker. These guys are fucking fast for how "fat" they are.

What blows my mind is how many people spend their time on an MMA forum and then basically rip the entire sport for all of them being “C level athletes.” Sherdog is fucking stupid sometimes.

Edit: Greg Hardy, ever heard of him? He was an All Pro defensive end and NFL sack leader for the Panthers. By all means he is what many would consider an “A-level” athlete. He was basically disowned by the NFL for domestic allegations, but that’s beside the point. He isn’t even 30 and still in his prime. He’s been training MMA for the past 2 years and is fighting amateur. Have you seen any of his fights? He would absolutely get smoked by Stipe, no problem. Just saying.
You mean undefeated in MMA (all wins by 1st round KO) Greg Hardy that looks like he hasn't trained S&C for a single second since getting kicked out of the NFL?

have you heard of greg hardy?

damon harrison, at no point in his life, would have a 1% chance of beating stipe. francis ngannou would make this guy look like a bum off the street.

just stop.

hes an amateur fighter (he doesnt have a single professional fight) and he looked like a flailing bum in both those wins.

just stop.

Typical pro sports athlete.

Equates height and weight and weightroom stats with fighting ability.

We have seen nfl and nba fights. Most fights the guys are 1/12 on strikes landed and fall on top of eachother and have no clue what to do except grab eachothers jerseys or facemasks

Pro fighter knockout artists were all supposed to beat him too, but apparently this guy is the one?

with the current state of HW right now, im no surprised a NFL player can be a competitive mma fighter.
Meathead was a NFL player AFAIK.
