Picture might have been taken during the time it was commissioned or when it was being built. So 58-61 matching up with pier 2 being built in 58. The Navy Yard isn't in the shot, so probably just wanted a pic of the area.

Who did the box belong to? You have to include all pertinent information!

Yep, thanks for the help. I don't think there's anything else related to the Brooklyn Naval Yard in here but there's some super old shipping receipts that might be of interest. I can rescan the photo and some of the receipts in a bit if you're interested.

Deceased family member. I started going though the stuff a few years ago but it was a little overwhelming but now I have to get everything down to what I'm going to keep permanently. He was a fairly sentimental guy it seems and he kept a lot of his family heirlooms and trinkets from his entire life. I didn't even keep anything from my high school years --- if someone went through my stuff today they'd know more about him than me.
