Listen moron, this all started with me saying Nick Young is a garbage can basketball player that's a career loser... and then looking up the stats and discovering that he is indeed one of the worst basketball players in terms of value in history.

VORP is a fairly decent stat to assess value... if you have a negative VORP then it's difficult to argue that player being any good. Nick Young is unique in that the only thing he's good at he doesn't do enough of (catch and shoot 3s) and everything else he does, he's absolute shit at.

He doesn't pass ANY eye test.

I'm somewhere in the middle of you and Gunt on the issue, extremely happy that you brought up his terrible VORP though. That was a solid hour I wasted at work doing nothing but plugging shit players into BR lmao

Plugging shit players into BR and then discovering that they are still far better than Nick Young... I knew I was in trouble when Ricky Davis didn't come close lol.

as long as he drops 3s i'm happy with his fantasy production

your argument holds no weight for a few reasons, namely:

why are those players not in the league?
why is young still in the league, likely to lead the championship team in bench scoring?

........

actually if HOU can get their rotations right, they might have the advantage over OKC
having Tucker, Mbah a Moute, and Ariza as perimeter and stretch 4 defenders is kinda ridiculous on top of the shooting ability there

Why Young is still in the league is a complicated question.

Initially, it was because there was thought to be value in a guy who could get off his own shot against NBA defense... turns out, ISO possessions are awful offensive schemes.

Then Nick was benched and his career thought to be over, but then Walton game him another chance as a 3 ball specialist and he had decent success in catch and shoot 3s, which is why he got this contract.

But he's never been apart of a winner, and he won't be here either, just going to take some time before he's perma benched.

Like that half ass dumb shit foul he pulled on Capela last night in the 4th quarter... oh you're dunking, let me give up the foul so you have an and 1.

And remember... Warriors 0-1 this season, Nick Young had the worst +\- on the roster last night, these aren't accidents.

he scored 20 in the first half, they lost the lead and the game in the second half when Draymond got hurt....

and he wasn't 'decent' at catch and shoot 3s, he was one of the best in the league on a team that sucked balls which meant contested catch and shoot 3s

By the box score it would seem they lost they game any time Nick Young was on the floor and Kevin Durant was not.

This will all expose itself in time.

For a guy that values defense so much I'm surprised that you're defending a guy that ranked higher than only Aaron Afflalo and Alex Abrines last season lol

that's b/c the team sucked
if you watched their games, he was clearly their best perimeter defender
edit: which admittingly, doesn't mean much....

Durant had 8 to's as well

Ok, you win by attrition.

Despite Young being as consistently awful as any NBA player ever, setting a standard for remaining on NBA rosters where all others would have been forced into retirement.

Nick Young is a solid perimeter defender that is better than Kevin Durant.

I watched their games by the way... he was atrocious all year long, in fact he posted the worst defensive rating of any player on the Lakers roster. How about that.

The best were Corey Brewer and Larry Nance... worst Clarkson and Young. No Surprise there.

All this in the best season of his career lol

Lol Swaggy lights up the stat sheet for the defending champs on opening night and Sherdoggers giving it to him worse than ever.

Miami over Orlando
Washington over Philly
Charlotte over Detroit
Indiana over Brooklyn
Milwaukee over Boston
Memphis over New Orleans
Dallas over Atlanta
Utah over Denver
Minnesota over San Antonio
Houston over Sacramento
Pheonix over Portland

nance isn't a perimeter defender...

brewer wasn't even there half the year
hahahah what

Not sure what it does to support your argument when literally every player who wore a Lakers jersey last season posted a better defensive rating than Young.

But ok, how do you put it.... hahahah what

Swaggy has skills no doubt. It's his mentality, work ethic and consistency that get him.

He has one thing that CAN be great and that is that he gives no fucks.

just shows how flawed RTG stats are...
1) boozer was top 10 in the league 3 times, was second one time. One of the worst individual defenders ever
2) young also led the team in ORTG.......

Walton contacted Kerr before the move, and told him how pleasantly surprised they were w/ his D. So either they were surprised he wasn't literally the worst defender ever, or the numbers are misleading as defensive stats that don't count are notoriously hard to quantify
