Old Man Strength

51. Just a baby compared to my Dad who turned 94 this summer.

Motherfucker, that's a long and prosperous life - no doubt he's seen and experienced a rich tapestry of stories! Best of luck to you and pops!

Retrospective edit: "Motherfucker" here being used as an exclamation, not directed at a specific person. Realized that might have come off wrong in hindsight.

He grew up in the Dust Bowl during the depression. Almost died from Scarlet Fever. Spent 20 years as a monk. It's interesting to contrast his life to mine or my kids. Completely different times.

This was my first trip to the gym in three months, and it felt like it. I have been sick for the last two weeks, so I haven't done any BJJ. I thought I'd do an easy workout at the gym before returning to BJJ class.

My gym now has a power rack, so that's good. I went to the gym 21 times last year, that's less than twice a month. I'm pretty sure I'm overpaying for my membership with that kind of attendance record. It's been hard to do BJJ and go to the gym, but I'd like to do both.

I was kicking the heavy bag for a few minutes after my workout and a gym employee told me to not hit it so hard. I thought he was joking, but then he said "I'm serious. You might break it off." I guess that bag is just a decoration.

I don't know what the prowler weighs, the 90 pounds is what I added to the sled. And I'm not sure how far I pushed it, but I estimated it to be about 100 feet.
