PFL 2018 #7: Thurs. Aug 30, 6:20 PM Prelims/9 PM ET Main Card PBP Discussion

That's some bullshit. Abdallah was fine but the higher-ups at PFL obviously set things up for their boy.

Wow... that's one fucked up situation!

Rama getting the Tourni spot due to differences in Comissions?
Isn't it ALWAYS considered a 2nd round finish, if the 3rd doesn't start?

I was pondering that as well. We had this earlier this season if I recall and it was highly debated.

No, Hasely's stoppage over Rama came the same way as this fight. Doctor Stoppage. However, that commission counted it as a stoppage in Round 3rd. Not round 2.

Jesus... this Comission bullshit is just evil.

Weird. I've seen fights stopped dozens of times between rounds and it's always been ruled how it was today. ex. GSP vs. BJ Penn

Exactly f you never Officially start the 3rd...

This is the evil of Federalism. Different states, different rules. USA needs centralization to prevent situations like these.

I'm doing research, and Halsey/Rama seems like it was a different situation, where the ref called off the fight 1 second into the 3rd round. I'd need to see the fight for myself to verify though.

MMA TODAY's PBP says....
"Just as round 3 started the ref intervened to wave the cut off due to a massive cut on Rama’s right brow. "

Exactly.

Didn't one fighter win a fight due to a kick to the nuts and his opponent couldn't continue after 5 mins so he was awarded the win?

The commission said because it was accidental, the fighter that kicked the guy in the nuts wins because the other guy couldn't continue. Surely a No Contest, no?

I forget which commission that was, but if I was fighting there, I'd be aiming to throw a spinning back kick right in the package, hoping my opponent cannot recover.

Dirty? Yes. Fuck it, I'll be aiming to get a win any chance I get.

Pretty sure every state has the same rule regarding this.

I'm doing research, and Halsey/Rama seems like it was a totally different situation, where the ref called off the fight 1 second into the 3rd round. I'd need to see the fight for myself to verify though.

It did go down in the records as a Doctors Stopage though.

However -- even with this -- its still a incredibly scummy situation. If you want to stop the fight in-between rounds you do not allow 1 second of combat to transpire and then make the call. You just stop it.

Here's Brandon Halsey talking about his lost point at PFL 2.
After watching... he's going to be pissed.

Timestamped (0:58-1:54).

They made the right call today calling it a TKO at 5:00 of round 2. That's how it is done 99% of the time in every state. It was the Illinois commission that had a weird call earlier this season by letting the next round start and saying it was a stoppage at 0:01 of round 3.

cant believe i missed the card today, sounds like it was nothing but action packed fights

I must have the magic Facebook where everything works smoothly and crystal clear.

Maybe you can find the magic sportsbook where everything works smoothly you don't lose your money.

Is Leroy Johnson ok? I’m not sure why they wouldn’t have given an update. I go to sleep and wake up and now it’s over 12 hours from when this happened . Hope he’s ok
