Rules of the PFL Season
Unified Rules of MMA apply, but NO Elbows
6 divisions (FW, LW, WW, MW, LHW, HW), 12 fighters each, and the top 8 fighters based on score advance to the tournament
Each fighter fights twice during this season, and can earn a maximum of 12 points if they stop both of their opponents in the first round
There are a series of tiebreakers that we'll run into if we get there with tied scores
At the end of the year, there will be a multi-stage tournament with the quarterfinals and semi-finals in one night, and then a year-end show to crown the winners of each weight class

SCORING RULES:
Winners get 3 points
Draws 1 point each
Loser gets 0 points

Stoppage Win Points
Win in Round 1 - 3 points
Win in Round 2 - 2 points
Win in Round 3 - 1 point

Fighter Pay:
Winner in each weight class earns $1 million
Runner-up in each weight class earns $200,000
Semifinal losers earn $100,000
Quarterfinal losers earn $50,000
Each fighters also makes their standard show/win money depending on their contract

Fun fact: Jake Shields competed against Ray Cooper (Jr I guess?) twice in his career, going 1-1. Cooper beat Shields by majority decision in 2002, and Shields avenged that loss with a first round submission to win the Shooto WW Championship in 04. He will be competing in this main event slot against Ray Cooper III, the son of the man he defeated 14 years before.

I can't find another time in MMA history where a fighter has fought a man and his son. If you know of one, please let us know.

No heavyweights? Psh we aint going 2 see any swanging and banging then.

Renzo Gracie Mtown guys fall in. Joao Zeferino is gonna wreck some shit. The fucking brazilian samurai coming for blood.

These PFL cards have been awesome. Seems like the bonus point thing really has led to more finishes

Some decent prospects on here too plus some name guys on the way down, good matchmaking

Hope they stay afloat, I've really enjoyed their product so far

Yeah we're two events in so we only have a sample of 24 fights, but the finish rate is 71% which is much higher than the average finish rate of WSOF-PFL of 55%.

Why prelims and main event separation? It's not like the fights are worth more pts in the standings if it's on the main event.

Like Westin's kicks.

Velik just taggin that chin every time he comes in.

Going to stop it, he done...
