When Cormier gets tagged he won't be able to get it to the ground given Stipe's wrestling acumen, and given that Stipe doesn't have the horrible gas tank that Rumble has.

DC could barely get the fight to the ground versus Gus.

Stipe has explosives in his gloves that Gus doesn't have, and even BETTER TDD. Not to mention he is 6'4 and huge.

How does Cormier win this?
 
I agree. I don't see how DC wins this. I got Stipe via TKO.

Stipe has above average wrestling, and average boxing, but leaves himself open way too much. He also gets tired after just a few rounds.

DC won't knock Stipe out, but he can definitely outbox and outwrestle Stipe.
DC also has better cardio than Stipe.

DC wins a clear decision.
 
Cormier tools Stipe.

Better wrestler.

Gus is extremely fast, has better striking imo, utilizes his reach, and runs like a bitch whenever there's even a threat of a clinch or takedown. He's a far different fighter than Stipe.

And let's not forget that Cormier won the fight even though he'd gotten dropped and nearly finished. Cormier by all accounts out fought Gus.

Using his speed in and out and maybe landing takedowns in the later rounds.

Stipe is basically a bigger stronger version of Jon Jones in a lot of ways. One could say Stipe is kind of like Jon Jones on steroids. If DC could not beat Jon Jones on steroids, he cannot beat Stipe.

I thought Gus had the fight won until he for some odd reason kept initiating dirty boxing clinches where he got tore up

He did it over and over in the later rounds

As a HW, cormier was a top contender, so he's still got a healthy chance of winning. 55-45 odd should be in favor of Stipe, but it's hard to say it's a wash.

Cormier put the whooping on bigfoot, he can deal with massive guys. DC should have the speed advantage even if wrestling is nullified. He's a different animal at HW.

he last fought at HW like 5 years ago though. Cormier is an aging man

Rashad Evans won TUF at HW. do you want to see him move up in weight and fight Francis Ngannou?

Stipe looks athletic and explosive compared to other HW's because HW is shit. He's a great fighter but DC is a different beast.

DC made a name off of ragdolling 6'3", 250 lbs guys.

Stipe might have decent wrestling for HW, but DC is going to stick to him like glue and wear him down

Horrible comparison. Rashad gained weight to make HW so he could do the show. DC lost weight so he could make LHW.

DC has big wins at HW, Rashad doesn't.
