PS5.

As of last night/this morning, rumors have started flying about that third party dev's have recieved PS5 devkits.

Also on Resetera a rumor appeared that Capcom now also have one of these dev kits too.

2020 or 2021.

Hardware specs sufficient to allow games to run at 4K resolution & 60 FPS standard.

If the next console generation is going to last another 7 or 8 years, the hardware should be to the standard of 2019 gaming rigs.

Now that Sony dominated the current generation, they shouldn't go cheap on the price - $600 or $700, since gamers are paying more for games/DLC/Microtransactions.

Let Microsoft be known for cheapness and lower quality specs and fewer exclusives, while Sony could be known for the merger of PC Gaming quality within a console.

Oh, and the PS5 needs to be capable of playing 4K & 3D BluRays.

I have a hard time picturing a situation where I buy another console.
Not trying to be a PC master race guy either, more along the lines that despite a massive steam library I play freemium online games with friends on PC, enjoy small studio indy games, and don't care about VR.
I imagine the next run of consoles to either be basically PCs or very VR reliant.

1st gen usually have issues? Really the only issue I've heard of from a console is the xbox 360 RROD. Other than that getting a console right away has never been an issue. Other than the random hardware issues here and there which are unavoidable regardless of when you buy your console.
early ps2s couldn't play the blue discs without tape on the discs right? i remember having to do that for some reason.

there was an issue with power cord that came with the 1st gen PS4 where it wouldn't let power reach the console itsself but was easy to repair nothing like that damn RROD on the 360.

I'd imagine it's time for virtual reality.

Doubtful.

PSVR hasn't sold anywhere close to expectations.

And as XBoxOne proved, selling a console with a focus on an expensive accessory, is not a smart idea.

pc will always be the vr king - porn will ensure it.

Can't help but think the next gen wont be for quite some time. We are getting serious diminishing returns in graphic improvements and I don't think we are anywhere close in terms of tech to making games look significantly better than the current generation. And there has almost been a complete halt in gameplay improvements from one gen to the next. There doesn't seem to be a big justification for bringing on the next gen of consoles in the near future.

Everyone is going to want to release on 2020 it’s a nerd love year.

Are there even 100 PS4 games out?

Probably this. The first rumors of games being developed for it are out. Also someone accidentally confirmed they were making a PS5 game at E3. I assume that means that Sony is close to finalizing it's hardware.

Btw TS, your name isn’t a Time Travelers reference is it?
