Ramp up to WWIII

Nuclear weapons have forever changed the game.

You're not going to find virtually any instances of nuclear powers openly declaring war on one another because of it.

Jerusalem is not even part of Israel and never has been.

What? ...and I thought you were smart and knew your Israeli/Palestine history. How can that be if the Israelis control the Temple Mount which is located in Jerusalem? As you admitted, Israel maintains its primary governmental institutions there. Following the 1967 Six-Day War, Israel extended its jurisdiction and administration over East Jerusalem, establishing new municipal borders.

"The armistice line drawn at the end of the 1948 war divided Jerusalem into two. Israel controlled the Western part of Jerusalem, while Jordan took the Eastern part, including the old walled city containing important Jewish, Muslim and Christian religious sites.

In 2010, Israel approved legislation giving Jerusalem the highest national priority status in Israel. The law prioritized construction throughout the city, and offered grants and tax benefits to residents to make housing, infrastructure, education, employment, business, tourism, and cultural events more affordable.

Israeli Agriculture Minister Ariel Sharon proposed building a ring of Jewish neighborhoods around the city's Eastern edges. The plan was intended to make East Jerusalem more Jewish and prevent it from becoming part of an urban Palestinian bloc stretching from Bethlehem to Ramallah. Seven neighborhoods were subsequently built on the city's eastern edges. They became known as the 'Ring Neighborhoods'. Other Jewish neighborhoods were built within East Jerusalem, and Israeli Jews also settled in Arab neighborhoods."

So, there it is. Expansion. Typical Jewish action against the Arabs. Again, nothing learned from Nazi Germany in WWII. Also, not giving 'two-shits' to what Americans think or want, but still taking $3 billion dollars in American aid every year. That is a great way to not be liked by many, and some wonder where the hate comes from.

There was a Palestinian state?

Old Palestine showing the original 12 Israeli tribes before the Babylonian Exile. The Arabs remained. During the 1880s the population numbered approximately 320,000 people, 25,000 of whom were Jewish. Many of these were Arab Jews.

So you are saying there was a country of Palestine?

Yes.

I know the history pretty well, but smart? LOL

And all of that and everything since is a war crime. Building institutions on other's land, furthermore, gives no legal title to the land.

"The armistice line drawn at the end of the 1948 war divided Jerusalem into two. Israel controlled the Western part of Jerusalem, while Jordan took the Eastern part, including the old walled city containing important Jewish, Muslim and Christian religious sites.
All that was never legally implemented. It is a zionist talking point. The land was taken in war. The zionist argument only works from neanderthal times through WWII. After that war, civilization appeared to wake and international law has been clear ever since. Read the Nuremberg principles.

Again, totally illegally as it must be. Look at what a dangerous and moronic precedent that would be set.

It was illegal expansion and needs to rectified if we will ever find peace. And let's be clear, "The settlements" are a PC way of saying ''racial colonies.'

To understand this more fully, where else in any civilized nation (let alone in on someone else's land) are communities set up solely for one race? Hitler tried and failed; why would it wok in Palestine?

Where else are the native people's homes being demolished to accomplish this end?

“Any humanitarian looking at the sheer number of innocent civilians who have lost their homes can only condemn Israel’s house demolition policy as a hugely disproportionate military response by an occupation army... It is a policy that creates only hardship and bitterness, and in the end can only undermine hope for future reconciliation and peace.”

– Peter Hansen, Commissioner General of UNRWA

To really understand the flagrant disregard for human rights that are going on to build these racial colonies, since 1967, over 48,000 Palestinian homes have been demolished by Israel and the Palestinians have not even demolished one Israeli home in that same time period.

Isn't Putin also Christian?

For political reasons, of course he'd side with his Muslim allies publicly because he has to maintain relations with them and has no over countries to turn to. But in private, he probably has no problem with Trump's decision.

Quantum computers and AI will will finish what nukes never will.

Something to think about:

When Jerusalem is such a religious center for both Islam and Judaism (Christianity too, I suppose, but more in a passive manner); do any of you really think nuclear war is going to take place surrounding that site?

I honestly think there's more of a possibility of nuclear war anywhere in the world than in Israel and specifically Jerusalem.

The capital of Israel is in Tel Aviv. It should remain there. There is no need to move the capital, unless you want trouble. I wonder what Americans and the U.S. Congress think about the President's decision. Do they even care?

Well, the Israelis have been moving Palestinians out of Jerusalem and Israel since 1948. I don't see the situation going nuclear. Jewish control over the Temple Mount was another bad decision a few months ago. 69 years of the same shit. Not much sympathy or empathy for the Arabs from the Jewish camp. Seems like not much was learned from Nazi Germany in WWII.

Again, "The question to be asked is how long can the history of anti-semitism and the Holocaust be used as a fence to exempt Israel from arguments and sanctions against it for its behavior towards the Palestinians, arguments and sanctions that were used against other repressive governments, such as South Africa? How long are we going to deny that the cries of the people of Gaza... are directly connected to the policies of the Israeli government and not to the cries of the victims of Nazism? You cannot continue to victimize someone else just because you yourself were a victim once, there has to be a limit." Edward Said

That is very well put. Who is this Edward that said that?

That's what people were saying about Ukraine, The Crimea, and Syria. Dude is definitely up to something.[/QUOTE]

Who didn’t say what? It was pretty obvious that Russia was gonna step in eventually in Ukraine. Especially since they border them. That was an easy.

Syria? When the news broke that Russian military was headed to Syria there were a few threads worth of people on this board saying “watch and learn America, how easy Russia takes out ISIS”, “this war will be over in a week” etc etc etc...

Two years later ISIS was still there. Not sure what the hell Russia was doing there besides protecting Assad.

You think the Palestinians are pissed? Picture for a sec, a White Christian sect decides to go down to Mexico, stick their flag in the middle of downtown Mexico City, and claim that land as their own... let alone because God said so.

Can anybody on here tell me that the Mexicans would be fine with that?

That already happened, and the Mexicans just simply converted to christianity, and call themselves mexicans now.

To be fair, isn't all the Israeli "capitol stuff" like their congress and supreme court in Jerusalem?
It's all a bunch of hysteria and propaganda. Jerusalem is the capital of Israel. Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, and Barrack Obama all acknowledged it in speeches. Trump moving the American embassy to the capital of Jerusalem (as embassies usually are in the capitol) is some big deal when it suits your political agenda to oppose it.

That IS the propaganda. They have as much of a right to declare Jerusalem, the capital of Israel as they do declaring Seoul to be North Korea's capital. The concept is ludicrous, it violates international law.

Jerusalem is not even part of Israel, let alone her capital!

Well it's about time.

From your Britannica link:

Jerusalem is the seat of government and the proclaimed capital, although the latter status has not received wide international recognition.

You know what proclaimed means? Can one claim a capital on another's land? And the only recognition is in Israel herself and now from a big orange idiot who knows nothing of that region's history.

Even the final partition plan was clear that Jerusalem was considered corpus separatum.

Just the "orange idiot?" No other American presidents have made a similar claim? No other world leaders have ever made such a claim?

Virtually every current capital in the world was once another civilization's land. Sometimes, you should just cut your losses.
