So, I've seen a couple of threads mentioning the fact that Ortega tested positive for drostanolone back in 2014. My point here is not exactly him popping, but his reaction. I know this can be categorised as "old news", since, well, his reaction was obviously in 2014 as well, but I think some of you might not have seen it and I believe it's important to see the full picture in order to make a fair judgement.
These were T-City's words:
"In preparation for my UFC debut, I used a banned substance called drostanalone. It was an irresponsible decision that I will regret for the rest of my life. I apologize to my family, friends, fans, the UFC and everyone else who was affected by my selfish actions."
"It should be known that my coaches were totally unaware of my decisions, and I am ashamed that I let down the people who believed in me more than I believed in myself."
No kangaroo meat, no skin cream, no Thai viagra, no tainted supplement excuse. Not only that, he took full responsibility and did not blame anyone else for it. In times of "everyone is on steroids" claims, I can honestly respect that.
tl;dr: Yeah, Ortega did test positive, but unlike many others, he took it like a man: admitted, apologised, and said it would not happen again. I can respect that.
