Meh, the platforms of the left actually address the issues instead of ignoring them: climate change for example, they are just rarely implemented in any meaningful way, usually just in a severely compromised form if at all (Affordable Care Act).
Meanwhile, we've been trying out the right's solution on shit for nearly forty years. "Getting Tough" rarely works and is, more often than not, just a waste of money for everyone who doesn't have a vested interest (read investment) in the solution -> "War on Crime / War on Drugs" and privatized prisons for example.
The wars that have been fought have been absolutely idiotic and a sabotage by the "ruling class". Of course war on drugs was a failure, because it never addressed illegal border crossings- why would it- more drungs= more arrests. "War on Terror" was a historical fiasco that bankrupted the country- irony being that US created that terror it was later fighting- first funding Al Qaidi against the USSR in Afghanistan, then funding the "freedom fighters" in Syria, aka ISIS. An absolute disgrace.
But border security, cracking down on illegals, spending money on roads, schools/teachers, vs funding terrorism and making glass in the desert would be a good start.
Being tough also means saying "NO" to every hand looking for a handout- "poor migrants", taking on dictators in other countries to "liberate" the populations, being a "world policeman" and funding everyone's security with our hard earned tax dollars. That's toughness too, and the left has to be able to say no to those things for the sake of this country. The world doesn't care about us, we have to be tougher.
