Naaa, use what you got. I'd get a stone pot over an expensive rice cooker since you already have one that works.

No, but I have eaten rice all my life. I like all types: saffron rice, coconut rice, jasmine rice, sticky rice, white, Brown, risotto, orzo, rice pilaf, rice krispy treats.

Maybe because we have secret knowledge of which Japan vending machines sell used panties, therefore we dig rice cookers?

I saw on TV Japan has a rice cooker that makes bread out of rice on autopilot. It grinds the rice, does whatever, then presto, bread made of rice. They are very smart.

Used to have one. Then I learned to use a regular old sauce pan.

If you eat rice often and can afford it, I would say yes. I've had a couple. Bought a few for family members. The hype is real. Put medium grain jasmine, black, short grain sushi rice, french fries, big mac, whatever, doesn't matter, and it comes out perfect without having to do anything other than measure some water and push a button. Fuzzy logic.

These things are amazing at making porridge, and when I need to make some quick steamed rice for curry.
