Robocop (1987) question

Yeah, I have no idea what that is in reference to. There is absolutely nothing controversial about Robocop. While it's true there is someone out there who will take issue with anything in any movie, there aren't more of those people around now. It's just that those people now have the internet and you get to hear about it.
Ironically, these days police regularly extra-judicially execute far more people than Robocop ever did.
 
One of the best satires ever made. Paul Verhoeven also made Starship Troopers and Total Recall. Great director.

Starship Troopers for me though kind of showed you why such films died out, with Robocop people were able to pickup on and accept the satire, with Troopers they either seemed dumb enough to miss it or nationalistic enough to dislike it. You could claim the same for Showgirls which to me clearly seems like a satire of the sex thriller genre that he helped launch himself with Basic Instinct yet was treated as a straight film and panned.
