Rumor - Bellator Close To Signing Chuck Liddell To Multi Million $ Deal

the only problem i have with this post is that you mentioned trice. that is one signing that isn't going to make it far. he isnt developing at all.

he will get dropped at the first step up in competition.

agree, he's the weakest of the bunch but it shows they are willing to get guys who have been really successful in one aspect of MMA and try to get them into MMA and hopefully turn them into a star.

Scrap that fucking Roy nelson fight and give us mirko vs chuck please.

Agree. The match making has been good for him though if the goal is show him that he needs to be working hard if he wants to make it in this sport.

What camp does he fight out of?

I think its Arizona combat club but i could be wrong.

I think you are right. Would it be fair to say thats not a great club? I'm pretty sure Fortune started there before switching to the Blackzillians

pretty sure its just a real basic type of place, I might be wrong but, I think Jamie Varner used to train there? But that's about all I can think of. He definitely should switch up camps though if he wants to make it further.

I'd stay out of the Florida based camps right now, they're a mess as is and none seem to particularly be thriving much. I think he'd be much better off at somewhere like Alliance or an AKA type place.

Bellator is on point with their MMA fan age demographics.

he opens his mouth for one second and you can tell he has some serious damage.

He shouldn't be allowed near a cage, much less be allowed to actually fight. Hopefully whatever athletic commission gets some balls and doesn't let him fight.

Bellator will just have the fight at some Indian casino, problem solved.
WTF is wrong with Scott and Bellator?
There is no universe where this is a good signing.

If they sign Chuck...........I'll call it now. It will be the first nail in the coffin of Bellator.

They simply can't make money off guys like Chuck and his pay. It's already been proving that guys like that (ie: Gracie, Kimbo) do great ratings one night and its back to crickets for the ratings. The money they spend on the Chuck's of the world is 100% better spent on current guys in the UFC with name value. I'll take 4 or 6+ of those guys over one Chuck any day of the week to make my roster deeper and give me a lot more match ups over the course of the year. I can build multiple events that will do very good ratings. Maybe not do as high as the one or two Chuck events a year but I'll take 6 to 8 events that bump my avg. up 300K+ and my peak to over a 1 million over those 6 to 8 events over a 1.5 to 2.0 Chuck event once.

I prefer to watch the veterans like Cro Cop over the new guys who I have never heard of. Im all for it and hope he fights this year regardless of how old he is now

They paid him to not fight until they didn't. Now he's fighting again. By stopping his payment (the only thing keeping him out of the cage) they were effectively ensuring his return. This arguments concludes that the UFC literally got Liddell back into the cage by removing what they knew was the only roadblock in his place.

And yeah, they would've absolutely got him back for a fight if he expressed intent. He never expressed that intent because he was paid not to. He never made enough as a pro to comfortably retire on for life, evidenced by his salary beginning immediately upon his retirement from competition.

Yeah but that's honestly just to give him something to do respect etc. I don't know if it's meant as an alternative to getting paid to fight since well he probably has enough money to retire on. He just misses the spotlight and being a star.

Based on some of these net worth sites I find it highly unlikely that he needs a "salary" or even to get back in the cage to retire on :)

So what is a good non-legends/legit matchup for Chuck (ie youth v experience). Maybe Philipe Lins?

i've taken a long hiatus from watching the sport. can't believe i'm reading this. Hasn't Chuck been a good UFC company man? lol I really can't think of an opponent for him that would actually be competitive. it's going to be a freakshow similar to Royce vs Shammy.

I'd personally like to see chuck vs herschel walker. but i think herschels done.

I'd be down to see him fight Wandy.

If he won that I'd like to see him fight Mcgeary or Vassell.

Melvin Manhoef please no LOL.
I like the McGeary matchup, but Vassell is still a handful at LHW and way too live for a 50 yr old Chuck Liddell

I've changed my mind about the McGeary matchup too, he'd win that as long as Chuck didn't bust out his wrestling

I hope he isn't cleared to fight. he'll end up more brain-damaged or worse.

I guess we will see this more and more because of the money now involved in big fights. Can't say I blame Chuck for making a huge payday considering it's probably more than he made while fighting those years in the ufc. Unfortunately money fights just make the sport more like boxing every day. Conner vs Nate 3 is a crap fight, and everyone knows it, but it will sell more than Khabib vs Ferguson even tho that fight is the best fight the ufc has had in a long time. First fight I've actually looked forward too in a while. I believe championship fights should get the $, not big name vs mediocre fighter. Kinda like when Tyson was fighting all those bumz for millions.
The only thing worse than Bellator signing Chuck Liddell to fight in 2018 is spelling "Conner" McGregor's name in 2018 with two 'n's and an 'e'.
