Source is from Eurogamer of Portugal. Microsoft renewed the rights over the IP and a tweet account is saying development is resumed by a trusted dev.

Who knows

Forget it, Windows Central denied it.

Metaphor for how I've seen MS handle all of Xbox one.

How soon we've forgotten being forced to buy their stupid 50 dollar camera and forced online connection etc.? This game represents all their failures this gen to me.
It's not their fault Platinum shit the bed.

Yeah let's blame Platinum even though Microsoft was constantly intruding into the development process. It's also not like Microsoft just destroyed Lionhead studios the same year over misunderstandings in the development process thereby ending the Fable series. Oh wait... they did. It's also not like they have been pulling this same BS leading to other perennial developers breaking away from them before... oh wait no there was bungee... http://fortune.com/2007/10/05/why-the-makers-of-halo-are-splitting-from-microsoft/

Microsoft doesn't understand game development and when they get involved they destroy game series and studios.

Nice article from 10 years ago. It works like that. You own the IP, you hire a developer. Developer needs to do what you want in the time contracted. Developer shit the bed. You cancel the contract. Easy.

You obviously didn't read the article. It had nothing to do with anything you said. Neither did lionhead studios with fable and honestly platinum was tired of being pushed around for the same reasons too. Microsoft for some reason wants to be involved in the development process which is not the norm for a publisher and it's destroying their IP's. They constantly cross the line into developer territory for some reason and there aren't many studios who will put up with that crap.

A contract was signed, an agreement. Platinum agreed to Microsoft terms. Platinum being "tired" of it isn't an excuse, it just makes them look lazy imo. They shouldn't take the job in the first place.

Microsoft is a software company first and foremost, they have all the right in the world to dictate what they want in their games. If they are difficult to handle it's another story.

You are entirely wrong about this. They hired a developer to develop a game. They don't have a right to micromanage the process. Platinum tried to work with them on this but Microsoft kept pushing for things. Microsoft destroyed the game. Demanding that platinum add things they aren't familiar with as a studio and then canceling the project when it goes over time after being an asshole about it all along the way shouldn't win Microsoft any points.

Also you treat game development like you pay someone to come mow your lawn. Game development isn't like buying a service. Games run over development goals all the time... the companies that don't recognize this always destroy their franchises. This is what got the developer teabag of the mass effect series in ME3 with the 3 color ending. Then it got us the worst ME by far and a series that will probably never see another game after Andromeda.

Making a great game is as much an art form as it is a series of technical skills you also demonstrate. Trying to rigidly develop games only works if you are making the next COD game which is really just the old COD game reskinned.

You said the exact same thing as me, but you're romanticizing things.

Of course the client has the right to do whatever the hell he wants, it's his project, his money, his demands lol

Again, if Platinum was not up for the task, they should reject the job.
