The problem with Revan isn't 'You are Revan, and Revan is you,' but what was decided as cannon for Revan after the KOTOR games leading up to the SWTOR MMO.

The Revan novel completely destroyed all the mystique behind the character. It was like horribly written fanfiction, except it was written by KOTOR1's and SWTOR's lead writer Drew Karpyshyn.

Many prefer to disreguard the Revan novel and SWTOR in relation to the Revan character. Even though he wasn't in KOTOR2, his character was expanded upon by the discussions with other characters talking about the events before, during, and after KOTOR1, and the speculation of where he disappeared and why. Unfortunatley, the answers to these questions being answered in the Revan novel and SWTOR were extremely lacking.

Many Star Wars fans wish the Revan novel and SWTOR game would be reconed, and a proper KOTOR3 would be made, but that's never going to happen, sadly.
