SAMBO gets provisional Olympic recognition!

Seems like Brazil is trying to up their wrestling a bit. As is often the case for countries looking to do so, they took in a few guys from strong wrestling countries. Marat Garipov (KAZ), Sargis Khachataryan (ARM), and Eduard Soghomonyan (ARM) are all competing for Brazil's Greco team now. Over the next 10 years or so this could have a pretty significant effect on Brazilian combat sports.
There are quite a few world caliber wrestlers, who lived here, in different times.
For some reason, wrestling doesnt pick the attention of the athletes in Brazil...

Which is why I think this could have far-reaching effects in Brazilian combat sports. Back in the day Darrel Gholar moved to brazil and helped a whole bunch of top Brazilian grapplers/fighters develop fantastic wrestling. Granted, guys like Arona and Filho were already great athletes and grapplers but their takedowns in MMA where absolute top notch.

With these guys relocating to Brazil it has to be the most significant migration of world class wrestlers to that country yet. It always surprised me that wrestling wasn't bigger in Brazil seeing as how they have judo, luta livre, and bjj.
