Pretty damn ballsy and considerate for animal wild life was this man, most anyone on their right mind would've aim between the eyes.

That's just bullshit they said not to upset people. Under the fear and adrenaline I highly doubt he purposely aimed somewhere he tought wouldn't harm the bear.
