I'd be wary of the power supply. Omen's typically have a 500W but the Pavilion that comes with the 3 GB 1060 is only 300W.
 
I'm tempted to buy this "barebones" setup on Craigslist for $300. All it needs is a video card. It's someone I've dealt with before and they've only had everything since last summer.

I went with a slower processor, but you're not going to notice 0.1ghz. If you want to go used, an i5-3470(4/4 3.6ghz) is going to be really close. You can pick up a full tower Dell with an i5-3470 for $150.
Skylake and Kaby Lake are a dead end as well imo unless you plan on upgrading to an i5. If you want to go with an i7 later, the 6700 and 7700's are holding firm at $250 in the used market. For that price, you can pick up an i5-8400 (6/6 4.0ghz) for $185 and spend the rest on a board. i3's are pointless for Skylake and Kaby Lake.
You can still get windows 10 for free.

Don't you need a B250 board? H110 requires a BIOS reset with another CPU.
I'm not a fan of that case either.

Go look at the reviews for the board, they come already flashed for Kaby Lake. I own 2 of those boards and both came flashed already.
I just used the case as an example, there's other options out there for that price. Coooler Masters MasterBox Lite 3.1, an mATX with an acrylic side panel like the tempered glass cases, hits $40 regularly.

I had no idea that was going on. I just looked at Newegg where I bought my 1070 for $375 less than a year ago and now it's $1050. Insane.
 
@Brampton_Boy So do all X and W model Xeons overclock? With the Spectre/Meltdown crap I think we're going to see ebay flooded with older Xeons. I thinking of picking up an x79 board and a low end processor now and waiting.

Only for first generation xeons based on westmere architecture. From Sandy Bridge onwards, only a handful of specific models are multiplier unlocked (I.e 1650v2 etc)

All Xeons can be bclk overclocked, but only to a point. From the x79 line, the 2680v2 is the best value. It's about $200 on eBay, and it's a 10 core cpu that turbos to 3.6ghz. Alot of guys get it to 4ghz using bclk overclocking, and at that speed, it's faster that a ryzen 1800 in both single and multi thread applications.

Thanks for the info, it’s much appreciated. I’ve never really paid attention to xeons. The e3-1650 (6/12 3.8) is what’s on my radar, they’re going for around $100 now.
I recently picked up an e3-1230 (4/8 3.6 1155) for $65 and I’m loving it.
 
Jesus Murphy, 1050ti's are gone as well. The cheapest 1050ti on Newegg is $170AR for a card that was going for $125.
