Miocic vs. N'Gannou - 380.000
Nurmagomedov vs. Iaquinta - 350.000
Cyborg vs. Kunitskaya - 260.000
Whittaker vs. Romero 2 - 250,000
Romero vs. Rockhold - 130.000
Nunes vs. Pennington - 85.000

Average per event: 242.500

Considering they put out about 12 PPV events a year: 242.500 x 12 = 2.910.000

In 2017 McGregor Vs Mayweather did 4.300.000

Basically in one night the ufc made the ppv revenue of the entire year of 2018. Now, of course they were co-promoting with showtime but the price for that event was almost double.

4.300.000 x 100(may-mac price) = 430.000.000 and 2.910.000 x 60 (regular ppv price) = 174.600.000.

So, if they split 50/50 for ufc/showtime (which i dont know to be true, but lets assume), the UFC would still have made more in one night than all of 2018 together. (215.000.000 vs 174.600.000)

Also that year, Cyborg Vs Holm, a card with basically two fights (that and khabib vs barboza), being a WMMA main event, did more buys than any 2018 card so far.

Put that, Bisping vs. St. Pierre and Cormier vs. Jones and you come close to the whole prospect for the year of 2018 again.

In 2016:
Conor, in just 2 fights(diaz/alvarez) has done 2.917.000 buys. More than the entire year of 2018 if things keep going the way they are.

Even CM Punks debut did 450k buys that year. No cards in 2018 have broken 400k buys so far.

With Conor, Brock, GSP, Jones, Rousey, Cain, Silva and Nate, all away from the sport, ratings look terrible. Without stars the UFC is fucked basically.

Fun fact: USADA is responsible for 3 of them being out.

Sherdog accountancy coming in hot.

If Khabib keeps winning, and defending his belt I'm sure he can become huge. He's already got a HUGE following.

You realize these "stars" come and go, new "stars" appear, other "stars" fade away... and so on...

Also, when the fuck were Cain, Silva, Nate stars?

In this era winning alone doesn't make you a star. He doesn't have the personality to break out, he'll be a great champion no doubt but never going to be a draw. He could stop Conor in the most brutal fashion possible (if they ever fight) & it will mean very little to increasing his following.

Nate's left pinkie is more of a star than the dude in your AV

I guess the UFC is fucked then. You need to call Dana so he can tear up all the fighter contracts and liquidate the company.

Are you sure? Where are these new stars?

When Chuck was getting KO'd and retired around the same time Hughes' star was fading and Randy was becoming less relevant, there were loads of people saying that UFC was done and they were losing their stars. It's a cycle. Nobody was to know that a woman fighter and an Irish FW would be bigger stars than all of them. Stars come out of nowhere because there is no set way to make them, which makes it exciting when it happens.

That dude in my AV rapped Nate for 15 minutes.
But, seriously, how was Nate a star before Conor made him a star?

What big PPV did Nate have?

The UFC stars were:
Conor
Brock
Ronda
GSP

Jones is not a star. His feud with Cormier was a star, but..
Jones vs St. Preux 322,000
Jones vs Teixeira 350,000
Jones vs Gustafsson 310,000

He needed Chael and that feud with Rashad to make more...
Same for Silva, Nick, Nate and others...
Maybe draws at some point (depends on their opponents and a possible feud), but clearly not stars...

Are you sure? Where are these new stars?

You could have put the same question in 2014, with Broke gone after 2 losses, and no Conor or Ronda being big draws. And then, bam...

McGregor vs Mendes 825,000
Rousey vs Correia 900,000

They appeared!

Like others will do in the future....

Showtime wasn't getting anywhere near 50% of the revenue for that Mayweather-McGregor fight. More like 5%. The UFC wasn't getting anywhere near 50% either, although their percentage was probably a little higher than what Showtime received depending on what their split was with McGregor.

Mayweather Promotions got the biggest slice of the PPV revenue pie. Probably in the 40-45% range. The cable & satellite providers would have been next at about 35%. Then the McGregor/UFC side would have split in the range of 15-20%. Showtime was only the event distributor and likely at about 5%.

Silva Weidman 2 over 1Million.
Silva Sonnen 2 925K
Silva Belfort 725k
Silva Diaz 650K
Silva Sonnen 600k
Silva Weidman 550k

Supporting roles

UFC 200. Stepped in last minute to ‘save’ the card. Mcgregor pulled, Jones tested positive. Even though it had Lesnar the main event was Nunes vs Tate and Edgar and Aldo are not draws. It did over 1 Million.

UFC 101 co Main was Silva vs Griffin and main event was Penn vs Florian. 850K

I guess you never heard of

Overeem deserved a piece of that lol

few things hype a fight better than a brutal ko

UFC is dying. Anyone who claims otherwise is not a true fan.

First of all... please! UFC 200 had Brock. Nobody gave a shit about old Dickpills Silva and the intelligent fans knew that DC will beat him easily. That is why it did over 1 mil. WWE Juiced Up Brock vs Hunt! And some sherdoggers wanted to see Tate, maybe.

Second of all, Silva sold those fights thanks to:
- Diaz - dumb trashtalk and 650 is not that huge (not Conor, Brock, Ronda huge)
- Weidman 2 - undefeated white american guy vs brazilian / Roussey fought on that card(big detail)
- Chael 2 - smart trashtalk, many wanted Silva to loose after the first fight
- Vitor - many wanted Silva to loose

He was never a star. Not Brock/Ronda/Conor caliber. A draw? Yes, but not a star. He made a lot of money? Yes, but not a star.

It's like saying that Cain was a star because he did 900 000 with Brock. Yeah, but thanks to Brock.
