I saw a clip of a side kick that started off as a rear leg roundhouse kick and then feinted and came up with a side kick to the face.

Does anyone know the clip I am talking about?

It seemed to be viral for a bit, I saw it a couple of places online.

Do you know the guys name?

Hey, I can try to search for it on my end.
Do you remember what setting it was in?
MMA?
Karate Tournament?
TKD Tournament?

I remember this as well and tried to find the video a few months ago.If I’m not mistaken it was a sambo match. He knocked his opponent out cold in devastating fashion. It seems that it was taken down. I use the same set up from time to time during training (not kicking my partners in the face of course).

I can't say I've seen the video, but the technique you describe is one that I have learned as a sport karate technique--it's just a rear-leg sidekick, essentially. The turn required to chamber your rear leg to throw a sidekick can be done pretty much the same way as throwing a roundhouse kick, minus the extension. I do it from time to time, if they start blocking the roundhouse kick. If they are sliding out of range, you can put some thrust on the sidekick and sometimes catch them, but it can be tough to make up that distance.
