Not a bad day. Definitely would have liked pressing to have felt stronger, but it still by no means felt bad. I was able to match my AMRAP from a couple weeks ago with 5 at 115.

Deadlifting from the floor felt great. I'm starting to get a very good feeling that my long standing PR of 420 will be falling at the end of this cycle.

I ended up just saying fuck it and skipping last week's front squat day. Front squats have felt like garbage all cycle, so that definitely factored in but it was also nice to come in today with 2 days of rest.

Despite, or maybe because of, the last 2 days of lounging around, I still didn't feel great when I got to the gym. Stomach was a little off and I was feeling a bit stiff, nonetheless though still ended up having a good session.

Squats felt great from the start. My form felt really dialed in and I felt like I was finally hitting all my cues. The triple at 280 was cake, then the double at 290 was equally easy. The first 2 singles at 295 were strong but felt slightly off, before getting dialed back in for the AMRAP set. Really happy with 5 as that surpasses the 5rm I set at the end of last cycle and it was done fatigued. Had a brief stint of lunacy afterwards and hit a solid single at 315, before coming to my senses while walking out 340.

Pretty mediocre session, didn't have much before work so this was all very rushed.

Bench felt pretty iffy from the start. I tried going with a slightly wider grip and honestly I couldn't really tell whether it hurt or helped. Switched back to my regular grip for the singles at 190 and felt slightly better though not sure it had anything to do with the grip. After 2 not so great singles at 190 I was completely ready to just hit on single on the third set and call it, though oddly enough that set ended up feeling the best of the session. Hit a tough double and maybe had a 3rd rep in me but didn't care to try.

Bench so far has really been my most disappointing lift of this cycle. I feel like if I maxed out now my squat and deadlift would both be higher than last cycle's maxes. While on bench I'd probably end up at 210, previous max, and no way hit anything higher. Granted, I'm only 6 weeks in with 6 to go, so I'm trying not to get too discouraged.

Legs and glutes were still really sore from Monday, which made triples at 250 tougher than they should have been but still not terrible.

Deadlifts continue to feel great. I'm happy with hitting 8 reps at 320, I possibly had 1 more rep in me but I was pretty beat. Finally get to start pulling heavy from the floor next week and I'm really feeling good about the carryover of all the deficit work.

Oddly enough, bench felt pretty good today. Felt like I had at least 6 reps in me each set and I kept the rest periods really quick.

First couple work sets for pressing felt tougher than expected, which had me thinking "great now all my upper body lifts are stagnating." Thankfully though the AMRAP set at 120 felt much more solid and I banged out 3 reps with possibly 1 left in the tank. 120 is the heaviest I've even attempted to press in well over a year at this point and is only 6lbs off my best. Hopefully this cycle finally gets me to the 1 plate mark lol.

Back was still fairly sore from yesterday, but with how easy my warmup deadlift sets felt I decided to be an idiot and do a max test. Got 410 about 5 inches off the ground, knew there was no way I'd be able to lock it out and dropped it. Then went and did the prescribed sets at 290. Little disappointed I couldn't get 410 but then again I'm an idiot for attempting it after yesterday deadlifting session.

Really wanted to hit 275 for 10, but ended up rushing setting up and tweaked my lower back on the second rep. Still hit 8 with 1 more in the tank but a bit disappointed nonetheless. Next week I have 280 for 5 singles and I'm hoping I'll be able to hit that for at least 8 reps to make up for today.

Benching felt strong. Honestly can't remember the last time I incline benched 135, so 9 reps was more than enough to keep me happy.

Been fighting a cold all week and really hit me Wednesday morning, took the day off from work and skipped the gym for 2 days. Felt a lot better today, minus a very nagging cough, and decided to give it a shot. Ended up combining deadlift and press day as I doubt I'll be going back to the gym this week.

First day back pulling heavy from the floor and it felt really good. Deficits definitely helped my strength off the floor as the weight was shooting up. Really pushed it on the AMRAP set and hit a tough 9. For the first time I can ever remember I finished up and it wasn't my back that was sore but my quads, not sure what to make of that.

Not a great day. My cold has mostly subsided but I still have a nagging cough.

I just could not get comfortable squatting today. 280 didn't feel heavy, it just felt so awkward. The AMRAP set was terrible, barely managed 6 reps.

Benching, on the other hand, felt fairly strong. Definitely interested in what I could max out on incline bench.

Deadlifts felt very good. Honestly not sure how may reps I got on my last set, it was somewhere between 7 and 9. Going in I was hoping to get at least 7 reps and I remember after hitting what I thought was 7, I got 2 more reps. However, something makes me feel like I miscounted by a rep. Regardless I'll settle for 8.

Bunch of misc shoulder/tricep work

Finally got that 1 plate press I've been dreaming of lol and even managed to hit it twice after, though only fuck were they grinders. I have the feeling my right arm/shoulder could press 145 while my left hits a wall at 135, gonna add in more unilateral stuff next cycle.

Good end to what was a tough week of lifting. Earlier in the week I hit 6 disappointingly tough squat singles at 315, benched a rep PR and all time PR of 200 and 215, respectively, and deadlifted 375 for 6 rough singles.

Got a sore throat Tuesday night and woke up Wednesday feeling like complete garbage. Guessing I never really got over the cold I had a few weeks ago and this was a relapse. Ended up taking the rest of the week off and starting feeling better yesterday, so I figured I'd hit the gym today then go back to resting for a few more days.

Decided on doing just doing a max day, as at this point I'm so off schedule there's no hope of getting back on track.

Squats felt probably the strongest they've ever felt. I was really debating whether to try for 345 or 350 and after 315 felt like I could've gotten it for 5 I just couldn't resist 350. Completely mindfucked myself as I rushed everything and basically forgot everything that had been working the past sets. Couldn't stand the idea of fucking up, what was, such a good squat session, so dropped to 315 and got 3 solid reps before failing the 4th.

Hadn't benched in a week and a half at this point, but started off strong nonetheless. I feel like narrowing my grip slightly has been a big improvement. Everything was flying up until 200, which wasn't tough but was a lot slower than I was hoping. Jumped to 220 and wasn't exactly encouragingly close. Tried to salvage the session with a rep PR at 205 but couldn't get the 2nd.

Deadlifts, ironically enough, didn't really feel great starting off; 225 was a lot slower than I'd have liked and it wasn't till 335 I started getting into a groove. Made a slight change from my usual and chalked up for 375. I usually only use chalk for my final sets, as my gym has a liquid chalk only rule and I try to limit how much dust gets on stuff. It ended up being a good decision, 375 went very smoothly. Still didn't have much confidence so I went for 410, a 5 lb increase from last cycle's best. It went up a lot smoother than I anticipated and I decided to jump up 10 more lbs. I could feel myself getting out of position as I broke it from the floor and figured that'd be it, but thought "ahh fuck it" and to my surprise was able to lock it out fairly easily, after getting it the first couple inches off the floor. It was definitely a fairly ugly effort though. It just hit me now that it was 420lbs, for some reason up until now I was thinking I deadlifted 415lbs even though I distinctly remember choosing to go up 10lbs and loading the 5 and 2.5lb plates on the bar.

All in all, a strong but very clumsy max day. Really happy to set a new hook grip PR and finally tie my long standing deadlift PR of 420. But squats and bench both ended pretty disappointingly. I'm not too upset about bench as I hit a PR of 215 early last week but that was after hitting a PR triple at 200, so I figured I'd have at least 5 more lbs in me. Squats felt great but I feel like I fucked up mentally. I'll probably do 1 or 2 light days next week and then try and retest squat and bench at the end of the week. Bodyweight right now is around 157-158, so roughly 3-4lbs heavier than last cycle.

This was my attempt at redoing last week's max out day and well... looks like it was pretty much a waste of time lol.

Did a light session on Tuesday just so I wouldn't be going a week between sessions. And though I didn't feel nearly as awkward and off balance as last week, the strength just wasn't there.

Knew from the get-go that squats weren't feeling quite as strong as my last attempt at maxing. Nonetheless, 315 went pretty smoothly and I figured I'd shoot for 345, a modest 10 lb bump from my current max and a +4 lb all time PR. No go.

Benching I'd essentially resigned myself to the fact that I wasn't going to hit 220 and instead decided to try for a PR double at 205. And though the first rep was surprisingly easy, I just couldn't break through my sticking point on the second.

Deadlifts I still had some hope at beating last week's PR of 420. 380 felt a lot better than I was expecting and I jumped to 425. I was able to get it 4 inches or so off the floor but that was sadly it. So I'll just have to be a little more patient before I can finally break my 7 year standing PR of 420.
