I'm a lazy TS, so I've waited until the story's almost over before making a thread about it, but it's been a long fight, and Jacob Zuma looks set to get the fuck out.

A couple hours ago, he was threatening to retaliate if recalled:

But he's apparently got until the end of the day to resign anyway:

This is damned good news, but far from the end. The man who'll likely replace him, Cyril Ramaphosa, has his own problems, scandals and blood-stained hands, but as far as competence goes, he's a better option by far.
The risk with getting rid of Zuma before the general elections though, is that voters might decide that Zuma was the problem, and not the fractured, corrupt mess that is the ANC. In that case, getting rid of the man will rob us of the urgency to get rid of his party.
UPDATE
Zuma resigned last night. His Indian crime family friends have been raided and arrested and his son is being sought by law enforcement:

The South African rand's already gotten stronger in response:

The African National Congress's (ANC) leadership confirmed on Tuesday that it has recalled President Jacob Zuma.
ANC Secretary-General Ace Magashule told a media briefing at Luthuli House that the decision was taken only after extensive discussions.
Magashule said Zuma had agreed to go after a period of between 3-6 months but had rejected the National Executive Committee’s request for this time frame to be shortened.
However it is unclear whether Zuma will resign.
A source close to the discussions told TimesLIVE earlier that Zuma’s response to the decision was likely to be 'controversial'. He is under no constitutional obligation to obey. If he does refuse, he will then likely be ousted via a parliamentary vote of no-confidence within days.

JOHANNESBURG - President Jacob Zuma was "was very arrogant" and refused to resign when told by the ANC that its National Executive Committee (NEC) had resolved to remove him, AFP reported.
"He told them he was not going anywhere as he did nothing wrong," an unnamed ANC committee member told the Mail & Guardian.
"He told them if the ANC issued a statement on its decision to recall him, he will retaliate."
But he's apparently got until the end of the day to resign anyway:

Pretoria - The ANC has given President Jacob Zuma an ultimatum to resign as head of state by the end of Tuesday or risk being removed by Parliament.
ANC secretary general Ace Magashule delivered Zuma’s recall letter to the presidential guesthouse on Tuesday morning after the party’s highest decision-making body, the national executive committee (NEC), decided after a marathon meeting that he should go.
