Is anyone here doing online sports betting and making money? I was thinking about putting some of my play money into an online account and messing around with it. I don't really want to put money into it until I get more information and such. Do any of you do this successfully? Do any of you do this unsuccessfully? Is it worth it to use sites that give you their picks? What about sites that guarantee picks for a small fee?

Gambling is for peasants that are too incompetent to bet on life, for fear of failure.

Unless it is your career choice, you are just trading money for the experience of maybe winning.

If you really want to gamble, try your hand at entrepreneurship. Lose, you get something out of it that can be used in the future as a real asset. Win, and you are the president and CEO of your own empire.

Gambling is for the little guppy fish swimming in the small ponds of life.

I was betting in ufc. put 100 dollars in an account at one point I was a little over 2500 cashed out at 1900.. after usada and just losing some interest in mma I can't really pick winners anymore. my biggest win was ronda vs holly

I used to gamble every ufc event but stopped around the time the wec merged in to the ufc. The odds used to be really good because nobody knew much about the sport.

You're a clown that I wouldn't take advice from. I very clearly stated it's fucking around money. As in I can spend it on cocaine and hookers or I can gamble with it. I choose sports betting because my heart can't take cocaine and I don't pay for pussy.

lol holy triggered...relax, I didn't mean to put a dent in your fragile ego.

Hey everybody, please be gentle with @jgarner, as opinions and insights that differ from his are not welcome.

There you go buddy, your thread is safe now, sorry I derailed it.

I bet anywhere from $60-$150 on each UFC event just for fun. I have no desire to bet high stakes.

I don't think it's that difficult to win in MMA if you watch most events. Last event for example showed just how much the betting public undervalued underdogs. I think the key is to be disciplined and take your losses. From what I've seen over the years in the betting threads, my guess is most that are winners that become losers can't handle losses and chase their losses.

Well said. Discipline is key. That and having well defined perimeters and goals for what you are willing to lose and what you wish to win. Time, energy and money related to return on investment, even if it is just for fun.

Personally, I have burned $38'000.00 of life savings within 8 months in a drink, drug and depression induced state, and have had the displeasure of working a cash window at a casino and do pre accounting of the nightly take. One thing I can tell you is the house always wins. It always saddens me to see people from dawn to dusk spending money they didn't have. They all say that they are just doing it for fun, but they sure as hell didn't look happy when they left, and the one's that did win would be back to lose it anyway.

The gambler that is doing this for fun and winning is a unicorn. Really its a poor investment of time, money and energy. You may as well grab a bag of coins and go skip them off the ocean surface in hopes that for every 1 your throw will magically return as 2.

Hardly a sob story. I was 19 with $60'000.00 in the bank and no debt, mostly from my own business. And the Casino was in a Fairmont Hotel so it was not for peasant coin slotters. Don't even have to mention that my family used to run a well equipt gambling den out of the family home, as well as having a close friend run a spot in downtown Winnipeg MB for years that included police pay offs. I also come from a family that had a large travelling carnival that traveled across north america, and games and gambling was where most of the money came from.

So why don't you tell me more about what I don't know.

Also, work on your grammar dummy. lol

Only bet what you are willing to lose. Also I'd suggest using "fake money" at a site, or basically track your picks for a month or two and see how you are doing before you use real money. Just know you'll more than likely lose it. But if you view it as entertainment or it adds some excitement to an event then go for it. Just don't view it as some sort of investment or income.

oh god the grammar nazi routine

No one gives a fuck about your shitty story. Stop trying to tell people what to do. Gambling CAN work in a huge way

Going to Vegas for March Madness. Its probably the only time I bet big on sports games. I like to bet on half time over/unders and spreads. Me and my buds will do a couple of parlays. I might make some UFC bets too. I made some money betting on McGregor Diaz 2. lol

I was taking a jab at you and your ''dummy" comment, just found it entertaining to see the word amongst such a poor use of the English language. Don't be so serious Francis.

And yes, people do care about my story, that's what we are all sharing here on a public forum, story's.

Good luck with your gambling, and I hope you have more skill than I did.

I most certainly do, which is why I told TS to ignore your ignorant first post. Just cause you suck doesn't mean you should assume everyone is going to suck and resort to an incredibly petty view on the matter

The betting sub forum is where you wanna be for info from experienced guys, there are some guys in there who know their stuff. Like anywhere it's a mixed bag of gents of course but some of them seem to be doing pretty damn good and have built up very healthy bankrolls through sports betting. Looking at the action they had on the weekends UFC looks like quite a few of them won big, I mean really big.

I was interested in having a go at it myself early last year but I went full degenerate real fast and it soon became apparent that I lack the self discipline necessary to be a successful gambler. As such I have had to knock it on the head :(
