Of course, first Luke has to be entering the bedroom of his sleeping nephew with a weapon, and also choosing to violate his mind while he's asleep, before any of these "momentary lapses in judgment" even become possible.
He likely alwayz has his lightsaber on him. He was running a Jedi school with lots of people that were under his personal care... & he was the only police force outside of the students themselves.

It was made clear in the movie... (not just the novelization) that Luke was "concerned" about a shift in Kylo's energy to the dark side.

Luke is his teacher. He's also his Uncle... & feels an obligation to his sister who (in the novels) pre-warned Luke of Kylo's attraction to the dark. It was this attraction that Leia made the decision to talk Luke into training him. Luke literally started his school & emassed all those students due to needing training partners for Kylo. Maybe he had the idea to start a school all ready anyway... I don't know, but the whole thing came to reality when Leia asked Luke to train Kylo.

So here we are ballz deep in his training & Kylo's slipping into the dark. It really does not seem that out of the ordinary that Luke would want a clear read on his nephew's mind while he's asleep & won't consciously interfere with Luke's mind probe.

Sad the way it turned out... but I disagree with the idea that the events leading up to that moment of weakness are not realistic.

It's weird to me, because it's not even nprecedented that Luke loses his cool from time to time.

That asshole looks at that assholes groin?

I think the biggest problem people have is that Luke became such a powerful figure by the end of ep 6... that they cannot except the fact that he basically returned to being the same bratty little kid that he started as.

Yoda warned that he started his training too late.

...but hey... to Luke's favor... a lot of Jedi that had full training went dark & he stayed with the light... so while we can salivate at the evil that the dark siders embody.... we must also give Luke that same respect for sticking to his gunz.

All in all Luke is a fooking hero for that alone... & despite being mind fooked by the kylo situation, he rocked up in the end & did some cool sh*t... & gave his life for it. So he really is the hero we all thought he was... he just showed a bit more of his human side in this part of the story... just like he did when the story began.

Calling @Myrddin Wild and @EvilDDS i'm going to need to step out for a bit you handle this, look up. :D

All right bro... I handled your dirty work for you while you were away.... but on the real, these discussions were not as bad as they've previously been with all the hater venom & stuff. I mean people still had negative things to say, but at least it wasn't that over the top trolling that made us not want to come over to these discussions any more.

It's refreshing to have convoz like this where things can be discussed & people actually read it & give real replies... instead of just endlessly flaming no matter what you say. So this is all right.

Thanks bro :D also it was optional if you don't have the time or the will no problem to skip it but I think it went really well this time around.

Heck it's not even like he "returned to being" either -- he never wasn't that brat. The calm cool Jedi who entered RETURN OF THE JEDI was just a front, which crumbled instantly once Vader and Palpatine put the heel to him. I believe it went a little something like this:

"AH! SISTER"

"NYYYYEEEEAAAHHHHHHH!!"

Then someone's hand got chopped off, but as soon as that happened regret sank in.

In LAST JEDI, Luke took on the sacrifice himself. And he used the Force the entire time. It's hard for me to fathom why people don't like that. I mean, I see what people are saying, but to me his death was of the utmost poetry.

Just watched it on the plane. It was entertaining if you turned your brain off. But the whole time I was thinking how much the new characters suck and how uncompelling they are. Plus the whole movie was basically big ship chases other ship slowly through space. I came to this realization when the movie ended.

I'd say that this mind violation of his sleeping nephew is already unforgivable and disgusting.
Luke never "violated" anything, wtf?

You have permission to stop projecting now kthx...

Yeah, nothing wrong with invading your nephew's mind while he's asleep. I'm sure you'd love to have people reading your thoughts while you're asleep. Nothing private about those.

I'm not projecting. I didn't write the fucking movie. Rian Johnson put it in there, and he was the one who had Luke doing it in the kid's bedroom in the middle of the night.

If you don't like thinking about, seeing or hearing about this stuff in a Star Wars movie, you should direct your questions and comments to Rian Johnson.

Yes, you are projecting. And you're doing it again. Adam Driver is a 30+ year old fully grown fucking man and looks every bit like it too so kindly drop this stupid "kid" bullshit. Fuck is the matter with you?

This is sci-fi and the rules are different. if Luke wanted to just ctrl + f then type in "Evil thoughts" it would work. You clearly have this stupid gay fantasy of Luke mindraping some child and it's sick.

It really goes back to the basic setup casting Luke in far too negative a light to the degree it simply doesnt fit with the character we know previously.

Personally I think the film as a whole should have just dumped all that slow speed chase/casino nonsense and had the Resistabels™ under siege during the film freeing up more time to show the Luke/Kylo flashbacks in more detail. Actually show a reason for Kylo turning and actually show a reason for Luke reacting to him such as say injuring another student.

Why couldn't a star destroyer micro jump in light speed in front of the rebels? That annoyed me almost as much as the casino place.

Interesting video about why the original Star Wars movies were great, and why Ep8 sucked Snoke dick.

That is interesting. To make, hybrids, centrists, or shall i say, libertarianism.

But. They failed. Its a mess.

For me, snoke, luke, leia poppins, and the shoved in my face sjw shit, all that HAS to be fixed. Then, if they wanted to do as hes describing, then sure, id like that.

Still, all that said and done, hard to get behind a guy who was bested by a mary sue AND killed han solo.

Can't say I've heard Wisecrack ever dive into politics in any of their videos.

Overall, that's a good thing. How many hundreds of videos have bashed Ep8 for its obvious political themes?

Wisecrack should stick with their analysis from their psycology expertise.

BTW, I recently seen this video of a young Star Wars fangirl ripping Kathleen Kennedy to pieces. Very entertaining.

Starts at around 3:00 in.

And bonus points for being very cute, with a voice that is very easy to listen to.
