So while the Trumpets cast this as a purely partisan smear, which is fair game, really, and not at all misleading as a generality, it shouldn't be forgotten that it wasn't some ballsy conservative who took on the king when he still had his scepter.
Seth MacFarlane Opens Up About His 2013 Harvey Weinstein Oscars Joke, Condemns “Abhorrent” Abuse Of Power
Deadspin said:
A seemingly awkward five-year-old joke by Seth MacFarlane about then-Oscar king Harvey Weinstein has taken on a new life and a new meaning amid the spectacular downfall of the uber producer under a mountain of accusations of sexual harassment and assault. And now the Family Guy and Orville creator is speaking out about the story behind it.

In an emotional Twitter post, MacFarlane reveals that the joke at the 2013 Oscar nominations was a way of him to stand up to Weinstein after his friend, actress Jessica Barth, who co-starred in MacFarlane’s Ted movies and had a recurring role on Family Guy, had confided in him about her harrowing 2011 experience with Weinstein. The encounter, in which the producer sexually harassed the actress in his hotel room, was recounted in yesterday’s New Yorker exposé on the disgraced producer.

In January 2013, MacFarlane, who hosted the Oscars that year, was joined by actress Emma Stone to unveil the nominees. After reading the five actresses in the Supporting Actress category, MacFarlane said: “Congratulations, you five ladies no longer have to pretend to be attracted to Harvey Weinstein.” (See the full video below.)

That joke, along with a line from a 2012 episode of Tina Fey’s 30 Rock, which also alluded to Weinstein as a sexual harasser, have become viral in the past few days as Weinstein’s decades-old “open” secret was finally brought to life.

Yes, sometimes Democrats have integrity and balls with regard to their beliefs-- even *gasp* actors!

Mcfarlane took a big risk with that. Props.

Good on Seth.

But will this be merged with the rest of the Weinstein/Affleck posts?

It's fucking sad that everything has become partisan. From what team a sexual predator is on, to mass murderers. We're all in this thing together.

I mean it started with a joke for Cosby case as well didn't it - maybe that is what he was going for and when it didn't catch on he just abandoned it rather than say what he knew?

Every single news story is a competition between all you partisan hacks.

I can't stand Mcfarlane or anything he is involved with. But props.

Wow, props to him for saying that.

this will make me look at him in a different light

Now if only Hillary Clinton(2020 nominee) will step up and be on the right side as well.

Doubt she touches this one, though.

Actually, literally triggered that the 'right' are point scoring your ass on a platter.

Take it easy micky.

For the record this whole partisan thing has came about for a few reasons;
-The Weinstein & Democrat connection (Obamas daughter interning at his work place, the money Weinstein gave towards Obamas & Hilarys campaigns). Hilary has condemned all Women who voted for Trump, called him an enemy to Womanhood...whilst she was in part funded by this creep and she also happens to be married to another, people hate the double standards and hypocrisy of it all.

-The fact many hollywood celebrities have been lambasting Trump non-stop, but took their sweet old time to condemn Harvey Weinstein, they waited till he was fired and they were getting backlash for keeping silent on the issue before releasing short generic condemnation statements. The likes of Meryl Streep & Jennifer Lawrence have derided Trump non-stop but they took their time to release a mildly condemning generic statement on Harvey and his behavior after being pressurized into doing so.

-The talk show comedians who have mocked Trump for months on end...but haven't mentioned Harvey in any of their sketches or jokes. Even though this story is big news right now and showcases the sexual mistreatment of Women, Men and Children in 'Hollywood'.

It's a shame this whole issue has become political, but such is the current climate. Trumps supporters saw the Hilary & Obama - Weinstein connection, then they saw the staunch anti-Trumpites like Streep & Lawrence keep their traps shut and saw the chance to showcase the hypocrisy and score political points.

Wait. He's a hero because of a joke?

He told a joke? Lolfl!

He knew the guy was a predator and he told a joke. Shit man, doesn't take much to be a hero

gotta be honest didn't realize McFarlane was a known liberal

although I'm basing that solely off the type of humor found in Family Guy and especially TED movies

He does seem in interviews like a relatively normal, level headed cat tho.

Seth MacFarlane is a treasure. Scary to think we almost lost him on 9-11.

On the morning of September 11, 2001, MacFarlane was scheduled to return to Los Angeles on American Airlines Flight 11 from Boston. Suffering from a hangover after the previous night's celebrations that followed his speech at his alma mater, the Rhode Island School of Design, and with an incorrect departure time (8:15 a.m. instead of 7:45 a.m.) from his travel agent, he arrived at Logan International Airport about ten minutes too late to board the flight as the gates had been closed. Fifteen minutes after departure, American Airlines Flight 11 was hijacked, and at 8:46 a.m. it was flown into the North Tower of the World Trade Center, killing everyone on board.

The most harrowing thing I've learnt of him is that he dated Emilia Clarke (Daenerys from GOT). Shit had me scratching my head.

exactly, it doesnt take a genius to figure out that the most powerful man in hollywood commands such authority.

same joke can be done at virtually any workplace, replace weinstein with whoever the CEO is.

This. Things can fall apart easy if someone needs for cover is to be on one side or the other of the political spectrum.

Now the right is becoming SJW's. Ever heard of due process guys?
