Student Loans Paid in Full.

I still have a decent chunk to pay.

In NZ the govt writes off the interest to it's actually better to put money in a savings account than to pay any more than the minimum.

It does kind of bother me a little though to know they still own my ass.

Graduated from university 10 years ago. Finally got that monkey off my back.

Finally, I can enjoy my whole salary to myself.

Feels f**king good, man.

Well done bro, i'm sure it feels good. I had paid mine off a few years ago, until I started my masters a few months later, I'm earning more now so it won't take as long to pay it off, prob another three years (cause I'm a Sherdogger and earn 7 figures of course)

Yup, I remember getting that letter letting me know they were all paid up...I honestly forgot I was paying them. They came out every month from my account, had no idea.

being debt-free is one of the greatest feelings around. you don't owe anyone anything, and you can begin to save. it's always good to have back-up cash, for emergencies.

I walked away from college with a bit of debt . I did college PT and worked ft and then rocked out the last two years full time. I dunno it's expensive and it sucks.

TS how much were your monthly payments

My compulsory monthly repayments towards the end was like 120 GBP.

But, towards the end I was paying off about 1,000 GBP a month. I just got sick and tired of corresponding with them and just wanted to get rid of it.

Good for you. Interest takes a lot , so it's good to knock it out. Now on to hour next big purchase, a tranny mail order bride!

Yeah, interest is not fun.

But, It was the correspondence letters that filled me most with dread. You feel that weight on top of you. Not a good feeling.

It still hasn't sunk in that it's finished.

That's awesome man.

It makes me sad that higher education has become a business where universities/colleges try to maximize revenues instead of student learning. So many of my students are swimming in debt (both OSAP and credit card), only to enter a job market where they are lucky to make $20/hour (social sciences).

I really like the Scandinavian model where university is free - the barrier to education should never be your ability to pay for.

I borrowed the max amount I could and invested the excess. Free money. PSLF in 5 more years.

Congrats TS. Between a coop program and my folks I was lucky to never have to get into student loans.

1000GBP/mo at the end seems crazy but obviously you chose your schooling wisely to be able to swing that. Hespect.

That's crazy. I studied abroad and it's nice since I don't have student loans to pay. But it's not okay that young people go to school and then work for 10 years to repay the debt they rack for that education. I mean even in Mexico people don't need to get loans the size of elephants to get an education, granted it's not as prestigious. I mean while I was living in Mexico (I worked as a medical assistant there) I did take out loans for day or for a week but nothing as large as student loans. It's actually fairly common there to take out pay day loans. (I used this company: https://credit-10.com/mx/holadinero-prestamos/ but there are a lot of options over there). It's cheaper then in the States that's for sure.

Congrats Gooner! So do you think that it was worth it to become Assistant Store Manager at Kroegers with that useless degree you got?

about fucking time...I had mine paid a long ass time ago....well, my grandparents paid for it...OH YEAH!!! Suckers paying their own student loans ffs!!!

Hah, here we go with people saying they have no debt.

I owe...a lot in student loans. It may as well be a billion.

I did just pay off all my credit cards and i can now pay off my car, but it took a relative and inheritance to make it happen.

That said, congrats on the loan payoff. Now onto the next debt!

How much is a lot? Was the education worth it? How much do you owe per pay period vs. other expenses?

I find this interesting b/c its all relative really.

I don't use my degree directly.
Im extremely happy i went. So much i want to go back.

My loan payments are the bare minimum, but its either that and always have them or pay more and not have any life.

Damn, this situation is totally familiar to everybody, I think, but thanks god not for me. My friend who was studying in medical college took a student loan in a big amount of money about 50 thousand dollars if I remember right. It has been 4 years since he graduated, and he will have to pay this loan for another 10 years, probably. I did this a bit differently. I took a loan from an online company https://foxycredit.com/dk/vivus-lan in the amount of 35 thousand and with a 3% interest rate. I'm almost ready to pay off the entire loan and it's like a load off my mind)

In Greece now. A guy described how education was free. tests decided who could keep advancing in studies. He had a degree in mechanical engineering.

And was driving my cab.
