The END of the G.O.A.T. Debate

But he got KOed by Hendo who is a MW so no.

Prime GSP jabs him to a 50-45

Hendo hits like a truck and Fedor was on the downside. Anderson lost to a LW and GSP tapped to strikes to a LW. Isn't the end of the world.

Lol at GSP beating Fedor. Outrageous statement. Imagine GSP vs Fedors opponents. It's like saying MM would beat GSP.

Any list that includes Conor as being Goat shouldn't be taking seriously. He did some unique things and is a good fighter but hasn't beating enough guys to be consider "goat" of anything MMA other then maby goat self promoter.

I can apply your criteria to allot of fighters. For example BJ Penn

Peak
2007 - 2009

Accomplishments
Two division champion / longest title streak at LW in the UFC

Clean and didn't cheat
Check

Longevity
Regardless of what his record indicates he has had a long successful career. From 2001 - 2011 he fought the best the LW and WW divisions had to offer while also fighting the likes of Machida at a catchweight bout in the heavyweight division.

Wow / it factor
Beating Hughes while Hughes was on a five fight title streak win and arguably cleaned out the WW division. Winning belts in two weight classes. Fighting larger opposition for a good portion of his career.

IMO in the past I always believed the GOAT's were GSP, Anderson Silva and Jon Jones.

But considering Anderson Silva wasn't fighting in a highly competitive division + the fact he got caught juicing twice, and all the tragedy and crimes of Jon Jones, for me these days the only true GOAT has to be GSP.

Had Jon Jones staid clean and focused on fighting I think he had all the skills and physical abilities to be the ultimate MMA GOAT by remaining undefeated and going up at HW to become a champ there. He completely fucked that up though.

Fedor was great in his time, but let's be honest he never fought in the UFC and his opponents were not of the highest level.

GSP = GOAT

Yeah, the guy that beat Hendricks twice and was the UFC champion right after GSP ran away.

STFU moron....

GSP ran from no one and took time off when he had lost interest/respect of the sport.

He comes back and fights a BIG MW after a 4ish year layoff. Yeah he runs from everyone....

I don't have GSP as the GOAT, but I respect the hell out of all he has accomplished. You don't have to drag a fighter down to build your fighter up.

It's just funny when people bring up Fedor getting KO'ed by Hendo at 33 while GSP was KO'ed by Serra at 26. Everyone loses at some point. GSP lost before and and during his prime while Fedor lost after a 10 year undefeated run.

Jones beat a lot of old past prime guys and his whole career is in question when he was roided up like 3 times that we know of. We still don't know who would have won both fights vs DC had Jones came in clean.

Even the first fight was pre-USADA but Jon's test levels were very suspicious.

He also eye poked almost every single opponent and later admitted he does it on purpose.
Who that is allegedly past their “prime” would have beat Jones in their “prime”. Just watch fights and view on skill. Fedor has no standout skill. He’s a toughman level guy compared to today’s fighters. Which was good in his day. If he was skilled his skills would still allow him to last more than one minute against a former practice squad football player. He’s old now but a lot of old fighters still can show skill and seasoned fighting pedigree. Fedora has low skill levels and always did it’s just now every fighter trains hard and focuses on all the skills. Fedora was fighting in the Stone Age of mma.

Fedor refused to fight in the UFC & never fought under USADA.

NO ONE needs USADA to know that:

Randleman
Cro-Cop
Coleman
Arona
Fujita
Goodridge

ALL fail the eye test!

Fedor MAY have been on something but, we will never know. He passed the eye test in my eyes.

Did Mickey Mantle or Babe Ruth use amphetamines? We will never know?

Gsp's round winning streak is more impressive when considering that Fedor fought such low quality competition so often, and GSP fought the best in his division everytime (except Hardy).

Gsp's longevity is also more inpressive. At 36 gsp won mw belt. At 36 Fedor got flatlined by Hendo.

Advantage GSP.

When did GSP ever fight more than two fights per year and on a couple occassions one fight per year? Fedor doubled him up on almost every year of his prime.
And to say GSP always fought the best is a joke considering BJ Penn has a terrible WW record and took GSP to a split decision. Fedor didn't get TKO'd in his prime like GSP.
Why couldn't GSP finish any of those fighters?
Fedor didn't retire after a controversial decision where the result could have went to either fighter (retirement = no rematch)
GSP winning the MW belt at 36 is also a joke. It was a targeted manuever knowing he would get his butt kicked by any of the Top 5 ranked MW fighers before Bisping got his lucky shot to win the belt (George, we are waiting for you to defend the belt).

This entire forum spent a year trashing bisping when he was champ.now all.of a sudden that win makes gsp the goat. Mma fans are some of.the worst out there.
Bones is still undeniably the goat. He was never beaten and even without the fights he popped his.resume is still the greatest in the sport.
Fedor has the most impressive run and fought at a consistent size disadvantage which makes his case more intriguing over gsp.
Anderson fought the weakest comp but he made it look the easiest.
I would rank them
Bones
Fedor
Anderson
Gsp.

Penn fan spotted.

Why couldn't GSP finish those numerous top 5 he fought? The same reason Fedor couldn't finish Nog and CroCop. The very few times Fedor fought top 3 guys in their prime he didn't get the finish. Oh and finishes at HW are much easier to get, especially when you're the fastest of out of an era of slow, unathletic HWs.

You are actually totally wrong.

The era Fedor fought in had a more skilled and deeper heavyweight division.

He had many standout skills. Excellent striker, excellent in the clinch, great submissions, good sweeps, good takedowns except when against high level wrestlers. When he did fight wrestlers he either KO'ed them quick or subbed them on the ground.

He had a great chin and was one of the hardest punchers on the feet. On the ground he was absolutely the hardest GNPer of all time. Nobody could generate as much force on their punches on the ground as him.

He was comfortable anywhere the fight went and could finish somebody anywhere the fight went.

The fact that you call Conor a "freak" athlete trashed your post. I dont care what you think, but he's not a freak fighter. He's made a career of fighting smaller men and cherry picked fights that favor his style.
