Must be misremembering.

Thought Messi had a good group stage then an average KO stage.

In the group he was miles above everyone, played like his club form. He couldn't carry that form late in the knockout stages though. He assisted the winner in the round of 16 tie and had a decent QF but had poor semi and final games.
