There is no guarantee that Conor beats a prime trainedFloyd in an MMA match

I think many people feel that boxing is void of physical contact outside of throwing punches. The idea is that a cage fighter would somehow overpower a boxer because of this. Clinch fighting is huge throughout boxing's history. Roberto Duran applied collar ties, off balancing, and over hooks to trap the arm. He would engage with hooks to the body on the uncovered areas.

Boxers train these standing grappling techniques. There is no ref in sparring. The breaks you see in a match are up to the ref's discretion, under the ruleset but doesn't mean the fighter isn't prepared or versed in that range of combat. Lomachenko for example competed in both Greco Roman, and Judo in his youth. They are exposed to clinch work which is a large part of MMA.

With superior boxing ability added, I believe Floyd in his prime would be competitive in MMA. Everything else a skilled boxer just needs to defend against, not too many people in MMA are even good at everything.
