This could be an especially interesting discussion in a day and age where popular news media outlets often do not agree on what is “significant.”

For the sake of this discussion, a “news event” will be considered in the hard news sense: something that happened on a specific date, as opposed to an “ongoing situation.”

So “Michael Flynn pleads guilty” or “Obamacare repeal vote fails in Senate” is an event, but “Russia Investigation” or “Alt-right movement” is not.

Obviously I focus a lot more on domestic affairs... I’d love to see some lists that combined domestic and international events.

I think the biggest story that no one is covering, is that we elected a clown, because we figured he couldn't be worse then the clowns we usually elect.

Funny enough. Nothing has changed. Any Republican could have done the same things trump has done.

If you told me GW was president right now, and showed me trumps legislation, it would make sense.

I disagree. No other president could possibly run an administration as badly as Trump.

The truth is that this administration is being ran by the same neo-cons, and chamber of commerce people that ran the Bush admin.

Trump is a figurehead.

Well, then I contend that Trump's administration went off the rail like no other figurehead's would. This is not normal, imo.

Oh it isn't normal at all. I just think it is theatre.

There is the used car salesman and chief pretending that he has a clue how to write a tax bill, and then there is the chamber of commerce actually writing it.
 
Lots of good ones in here so I won't repeat them. I'm gonna toss out UFO tape the government release etc. I feel like it's a huge deal and is not getting the attention it deserves.

Sorry, meant to get back to this.

One unusual thing about this year is that there's been so much crazy shit that none of it stays in the news long. I was just reminded about the Hobby Lobby/ISIS story. That would be huge in some years, but it's completely under the radar this year (and rightly--I'm not saying it's in the top 10 events this year).

You know a poster shouldn't be allowed to come back yet when both them and those around them preach that they didn't do anything wrong when they did. How quickly should we expect the same behavior if Charm came back thinking the ban was unjust? Pretty quick, I'd say.

& such sensitivity exhibited by the mods when chram used alts for days spamming threads & inboxes of users with gay porn gifs.

not to mention his countless attempts after, using more alts to weasel his way in here.
