Trump admin threatens the world over breast milk, backs down to Russia, babes can suckle again

Honest question, was it the government's fault you didn't get breastfed? And do you think people are so stupid that they are heavily influenced to use formula because the government didn't have the right labels on things and didn't give breast milk a huge thumbs up?

We breast fed our daughter after doing lots of research. IMO, it is up the parents to make the right decision. It is up to parents to raise their children properly. I don't give a flying fuck what the government thinks about breast milk. I care what my wife and I think.

Where did personal responsibility go?
It’s a simple investment that unfortunately won’t be able to easily show off its results because it is about preventing conditions.

You can save all that personal responsibility shit because I’m actually on the right side of the spectrum, the fact is that a baby is a 3rd party and shouldn’t be harmed by the ignorance of parents.

A lot of people just don’t know how beneficial beastmilk can be, congratulations on you for looking into it but government has an interest in ensuring the wellbeing of the people it governs.

Parents should have an interest in the well being of their children. Your whole mentality sucks. You think big government should be raising children, and I think that is the job of parents. You don't think parents should be held accountable. That way of thinking leads to laziness. That type of thinking destroys countries and ruins culture. Lets look to the government to hold our hands from tit to deathbed. Yuck.

It is like the people who don't even feed their kids breakfast and get the school to do it. It infects children with the mentality that the government is there to feed them. A bowl of oatmeal costs less than ten cents, and it takes a few minutes of effort to make. Why can't parents do this?

Yes, I value personal responsibility. Fuck everyone who thinks the government is the answer to everything. And if people are too fucking lazy to understand what they are feeding their child, then that kid is fucked anyway.

Did the government fail you by not breastfeeding you? Is that what you think?

I don’t know why you keep trying to press buttons. All I am saying is that I agree with a label that shows that formula is not a replacement for breast milk from a healthy mother.

I have a brother who is permanently disabled for not wearing a seatbelt and I don’t advocate seat belt laws, you can stop trying to make me mad or thinking I’m just a person that is in favor of changing a whole system because I was harmed.

I’m simply a rational thinker, an actual conservative, you’re just a reactionary.

I want individuals to face the consequences of their actions, you want 3rd parties to be harmed by ignorant decisions of parents. As a real conservative, I understand that humans are flawed and that the world creates all sorts of situations in which people make the wrong choice. As long as these things exist, government absolutely should try to minimize the harm on 3rd parties

Sorry for wanting healthy people in the next generation.

You literally only oppose this labeling because you’re afraid that it will create more liberals. But you’re totally a rational thinker, lol.

I'm sure many people against breastfeeding believe it's a sexual act, and thats why they are uncomfortable about it, and especially against seeing it in public.
Wouldn't be surprized if religion would have something to do with it as well.

Here's hoping Trump supporters will start a very public movement to not breastfeed their babies and instead use formula.
Or stop breeding. That would probably be better in the long run.

Wow.

Any decent people left in the American administration?

That's one of the issues: the baby food industry wants mothers to mix formula with unclean water instead of feeding the infants breast milk which is not only clean, but also possess among the mother's immunities.

I've read that Nestle is giving free formula samples for mothers to use immediately after childbirth... so then the mothers will stop lactating and have no choice but to buy formula.

Nestle has been fined for this many times each time a new set of measures are put in place. Next review they fail again.

What Nestle does (and have been caught many times) is dressing up salesmen as doctors (lab coats and stethoscopes etc) send them into maternity wards in poor countries and lie to new mothers that formula is better for their child. Give them free samples to last week's. Week's go by mother never breast feeds and kiddy has no option now.

Dirty water isn't the only issue, another big problem is watered down formula can create stomach issues.

They are not the only company doing it by they are the most well known and one of the worst offenders.

Read into, its fucking evil.

Should large companies be allowed to pretend their salesmen are doctors then lie about the health benefits of their product?

I'm all for personal responsibility but governments should shut down multinational con men.

Obviously you're correct, however, in my experience there was an odd deference to formula promoted as "just as good," as breast milk. The ease of feeding with formula combined with my wife's initial difficulty breastfeeding (which is common) and this supposedly great alternative (formula) led us to quickly adopt formula to feed our firstborn. Even more shitty, is that we had to try several brands/types because our child was supposedly "sensitive," to formula.

In my opinion, there are a lot of ignorant people who quickly defer to the doctor and government say so, unfortunately to the detriment of their own health. Obviously it's our individual responsibility, but we are given false/misleading information at nearly every turn it seems.

I have a lactation fetish.
It's perfectly normal and not at all weird or offputting for every woman I date when I ask them to take hormones to induce-- but now I've said too much.

This is it!!

" I don’t advocate seat belt laws"
I didn't realize it wasn't the law to wear them in America, is it a state by state thing?

I would have to look more into the issue and when I say issue I don't mean if breast feeding is best, we all know that it is. This must be an economic issue if we look at it objectively rather than the lens of the NY Times.

I suggest you do.

Why does our government even need to have an official position on breast milk? Do we need government in every aspect of our lives?

What is our government's stance on the type of toilette paper I should use?
Influence peddling generates money that could be used to pay off more pornstars and Playboy Playmates.

Who fucking cares? Breast feeding is up to the mother. The government has nothing to do with it.

Does this prevent your ladies from putting kids on her tits?

The government has nothing to do with it? Then why are they so concerned with the way mothers in Ecuador feed their infants?

From the article you obviously didn't read..
American officials sought to water down the resolution by removing language that called on governments to “protect, promote and support breast-feeding” and another passage that called on policymakers to restrict the promotion of food products that many experts say can have deleterious effects on young children.

When that failed, they turned to threats, according to diplomats and government officials who took part in the discussions. Ecuador, which had planned to introduce the measure, was the first to find itself in the cross hairs.

The Americans were blunt: If Ecuador refused to drop the resolution, Washington would unleash punishing trade measures and withdraw crucial military aid. The Ecuadorean government quickly acquiesced.
