You find mainstream health policy specialists in public health departments at big universities, and they are certainly not all on the side of the insurance industry. I agree though that the gap between the insurance industry's lobbyists and a lot of politicians doesn't allow much daylight through.

Severely disabled and destitute people who qualify for SSI get some form of medicaid, and if there is some type of illness or injury after someone has been working and paying enough into social security, it is possible to qualify for SSDI and get on Medicaid, but that system is very difficult to get into for disabled people, as it is only for people who are unable to do any type of job, even part time.

So, people who are well enough to do some work, but didn't get insurance through their jobs, and couldn't afford pre ACA premiums (and of course a lot of people who had any type of history of medical problems would have been rejected by insurance companies anyways, which of course would include disabled folks) have been able to get great health insurance in the states where the ACA is working. Unfortunately, Obama didn't hold the line with the public option, which would have been a solution for all of the folks who are hurting in the states where the ACA isn't working and/or where the GOP has done its best to stop the ACA from working.

Hawaii is not representative of all healthcare markets, by any means, let alone of the whole of the US.

Your second link I'm not sure if it's as definitive as you think. The only stable thing about it is as a % of GDP. As GDP rises as much as healthcare costs do, that line will remain static - but healthcare costs are still rising.

When you think about it, people are living longer, more advanced diagnosis and treatments are available, more people in the country - healthcare costs will always rise. It's inevitable. All you can really do is make HC delivery cheaper and more efficient.

The best way of doing that is UHC/SP. But Obamacare seems to be a lot better than what it replaced.

Bullshit. Your existence here is an unintelligent shitpile of teenage buzzwords. 17 tops and I doubt your mom can afford any insurance.

I'm not saying Hawaii was representative, however, obamacare is federal, if it fails in one state, it'll likely fail in others, and that's exactly what happened. Lets not pretend that Trump was the reason for the failure, that's purely revisionist. Trump and crew definitely want to expedite the failure so they can replace it.

as for the natural rise of expenditure, Obamacare didnt lower it, so it fails, case closed. You can argue this or that makes little difference.

He's talking regularly with Rand Paul on this, and Rand is a repeal only guy. So basically Trump is sabotaging the ACA which is the same as a flat repeal.

I hope your daughter's illness passed quickly and that she fully recovered.

If it had been a chronic illness, Under the old rules your daughter would have to be a slave to the corporations the rest of her life for her to have insurance (through work). She would never have been able to buy insurance independently.

I know people who found themselves in that boat and ACA saved their lives.
