UFC reaches deal with Disney/ESPN

Espn is on a decline this isn't necessarily UFCs best option
True ESPN is sucking a lot of money from Disney. Not sure if throwing UFC in ESPN+ beats FS1.

Does that mean big non pay per view ufc cards will air on abc?

Translation : We got dropped by fox .

If fox saw no value that's not a positive
Actually, FOX ponied up more money to keep the UFC around.
Guess the UFC got a better deal somewhere else despite FOX offering more money.

Guess the UFC isn't dying after all.

fightpass will be for the non americans, regions with no ESPN+

This is how im seeing it..

ESPN+ in the USA will basically be fightpass with 12 extra events
ROTW will get Fightpass with all the ESPN stuff thrown in

Great thing about streaming events is they dont care about underrunning and we dont get 12 hours of fillers and shit.. its fights and walk ins..

Ah, here we go, from the espn+ launch

so its only in North America

So basically, in the US, all UFC fightpass content including Contender Series, 14 events, archives etc will move to ESPN+

US Fightpass would be pretty watered down with im guessing just early prelims, and invicta, cage warriors etc.

Outside the US, fightpass, and I would guess that Contender Series and the 14 events will be on fightpass in those regions. Highly unlikely they say "sorry rest of the world, we arent giving you shit"

I would be amazed if those 14 events and DWCS were US only.

bigger issue is how a migration of subscribers in the US from fightpass to espn+ would inpact the likes of invicta etc who are on fightpass
Theyll play it on espn over here in australia im betting.

So it won’t even be on television? Yikes.
It will, but if you think about it network channels will probably be obsolete in 10 years. Programming on the internet is the future, cheaper and easier for consumers to choose.

This deal does not replace Fox in any way
It is in addition to the broadcast deal

Ya just read that, Disney’s trying to push the ESPN app, not a horrible move.

It's a great deal for the UFC. ESPN gets naming rights and a non-exclusive library atop of 15 original FP cards. The UFC can still make a few bucks on FP internationally, the $150 million from ESPN will also give them $10 per online only card to pay talent and everything else. Then you've got live gate and reebok money.

After that, someone will pay them their $250-$275 a year for their other content, yielding the $400 million a year they wanted.

WME is smarter than all of us.

ESPN is dying. They're ratings are tanking. Ufc is out of touch with where things are going. Things are moving towards streaming services and people are getting away from cable.
ESPN isn’t dying, lol.they are still making money. They arnt making as much money as five years ago because people are cutting cable ... But they arnt dying .They are still the biggest cable company in America.. They still turn a big profit.

ESPN is launching the app because more people are turning to streaming . You saying the ufc is out of touch because things are going towards streaming makes little sense when the deal is for ufc to be on ESPNs streaming service

This sounds like an argument between a Catholic priest, that likes to touch little boys and an Imam who, has an 11-year-old wife, on who is the worse human being.

Go on to read more.....the point was it’s not just Fox, it’s all of them. To single out one is short sighted. All the major outlets are owned by the same three men, all with the same agenda and all telling people whatbto care about and what to be upset about.

more is more!!!

I'm assuming those cards will be on the Fight Network for free up here in Canada.

FUCK DISNEY & FUCK THE UFC. Both companies deserve one another they both pay employees slave wages.

ESPN is not sucking money from anyone other than cable customers. They make a profit and they crush FS1 by any measure.

I sincerely hope these fight cards are supposed to replace the Fox cards and not in addition. If you thought cards were watered down now, holy shit if it's 15 MORE.

So how many posts does @FrankieNYC have in this thread at this point, 70?

Anyway, more leftist influence is just what UFC needs! One step closer to black transgender lesbian Muslim paraplegic ring-people

Dude you don't have to be so angry. I know your mom and dad are brother and sister but let it go.

They aren't, but some of the ESPN cards replace the Fight Pass cards, and some of Fox's may come from eliminating a handful of the lesser PPVs. More events overall I'm sure, but maybe not that many more.

Plus you get more eyes on the sport. Fightpass was for people already into mma, the espn app will have hockey fans, baseball, nba , exc who just might tune in and check out some fights .

ESPN is a dying channel facing layoffs and losing serious cash. Not to mention pissing off their owner Disney in the process. ESPN is grasping at straws at this point, ESPN will help the UFC, as well as Reebok, did. Think about that one lol.

Tyquil Woodley will fit in at ESPN since everything is about identity politics over there too.
