Has anyone had a crazier downfall (that wasn't drink/drug/law-related) in MMA than Hendricks? He's gone from UFC champion/main eventer, to possibly not even getting paid for this cowboy shit, in the space of 3-4 years.

I do agree Hendricks sad downfall. Gotta have some mental illness going on there who knows I’m not a shrink but it’s sad for his kids as well

What makes it sadder and more confusing with Hendricks is that there isn't really a visible reason. People can say "Hurr hurr, he got fat!", or "USADA strikes again!", but it seems like he lost all ability to fight almost overnight.

If there is a drink/drugs/legal issue, it doesn't make it any better, but you can at least understand why that will cause a fighter to go off course. With Hendricks, it's hard to say what happened. Perhaps there is some sort of mental issue there (inb4 Sherdog's resident doctors call it CTE), I don't know.

Pity for the fighters but the writing was on the wall a while before this event actually took place.

Brenna Ward was originally Hendricks opponent, and unceremoniously backed out of the fight due to contract bullshit.

Merrriman as well.

Hope these guys get paid somehow. But I doubt it.

There was an event in the Dominican Republic back in like 2010. Nemesis or something. Jardine and I think maybe Dodson or moraga fought on it. Every fighter got fleeced and left behind in a near-third world country.
