Vitor Came Closer To Beating Jones Than DC Ever Did

Jones came alone at the right time.

Lyoto, Rua, and Page were all shot from wars and injuries fighting each other.

The young guns did great against him

He beat 40 year old DC twice but got caught cheating

Somehow he dodged Hendo. Which i honestly would have loved to see

Jones can GTFO of any goat talk. Hes just big

Jones destroyed Henderson in submission grappling. Jones farside ducked Hendo so easily at SUG it made Henderson look like he never wrestled before. Jones would massacre Henderson in MMA; his range and Henderon's lack of any real mobility/footwork takes away the only real weapon standing (overhand right) and Jones has proven he ragdoll Henderson grappling. So what exactly is he going to do to beat Jones?

Good observation. Jones was caught, didn't tap, came back to tapout Vitor.

Chael Sonnen was the closest to beating Jones.

Jones broke his toe badly, and if Chael had made it to the end of the round the ref/doctors would have taken one look at his foot and ended the fight on a Doctors stoppage.

Chael would have won the LHW belt. Who knows what would have happened next?
Imagine if Silva had then moved up to fight Chael, won the LHW belt, becoming the first Champ Champ, only to then fight Jones.....

Cool, but an armbar like that it's a trick you could use one time, he surprised Jones, that's not going to happen again.
For the rest of the fight Jones was whopping Vitor ass.

Cormier was competitive with Jones both fights.

The thing about a fight is you only need to catch your opponent off guard with an armbar one time to potentially win. If you lock the hold in correctly, you don't need to surprise him with armbars again and again. Seeing as how he damaged Jones's arm permanently, he came extremely close to having that armbar applied correctly, in which case there would have been no way for Jones to get out of it. Nobody else has come so close to beating Jones, especially in such a decisive manner where it wouldn't have been the opinion of some judges that would have determined the winner of the fight. It would have been a situation where one guy says he quits, that he can't take any more punishment. That's decisive!

He beat Hendo in an exhibition charity match 6 years after they were gonna fight.

6 years is a long fuckin time when we are talkin 40 to 46

Apparently Vitor didn't have the armbar locked on securely enough

Vitor said the lock was tight but he thought that was it and then loosened it in order not to break Jones' arm. And I believe him. That's BJJ common courtesy. Bones was very lucky.

Why would he think that was it when the ref hadn't stopped the fight? I smell bullshit.

Because if you have a tight armlock you can break someone's arm if you use 100% strength in a split second and Bones' arm did snap (the fact that Bones managed to win the fight using only one arm is topic for another conversation). He could have continued with the pressure and broken it easily, but he chose not to.

...aaanyway, Gus came closer to beating Jones than DC ever did =]

Yeah, so he says ...
But still, the ref hadn't stopped the fight, and Bones hadn't tapped, so how can Vitor think the fight was over? The ref is obviously not stopping the fight once Vitor lets go.

I agree with you, he should have gone for the kill and not given a fuck about Jones' health. I'm just saying is just a BJJ habit.

Vitor reckons he "let it go" after hearing Jones' elbow pop. He's probably full of shit, but if he's not he should have broken JBJ's arm.

It wasn't nor an exhibition match nor a charity event, it was a professional grappling event.
Actually Dillon Danis said that Chael's Submission Underground is the grappling event that pay the most.

When Vitor was TRT'd to the gills. He could beat any man walking the face of the earth. Arguably the GOAT on peds. When Joe and Schaub started talking about Vitor lately being on that "super unleaded" and how great he looks now. VITOR is just a different animal on the sauce. They better hope Vitor doesn't join that tournament and start wheel kicking old dudes in the head. Vitor is to TRT as Samson was to his hair.
