W40K Inquisitor Martyr alpha gameplay (VERY alpha)

I was wrong about the lack of Purple drops. They were going straight into my list without showing as a reward, which is a bug I reported on reddit:

For you Ghost, since you're interested in WH40k and this game, my feedback and bug report on the latest patch:

this is why i think this game is good. they are heavily engaged with the W40k forums an the forums are making sure they dont fuck this shit up

not to shit on this game because i want it to be good but devs listening to the community is not uncommon at the early stages of developement but taking things into consideration and actually doing something about it is not that common, atleast from my experience of following games during developement

also dont think the players knows whats best to make a game good, no matter how much they cry about it

You're right, there has to be a balance there for sure, but I will say that the Devs really are taking advantage of our feedback and acknowledging it, and in some cases they are implementing it.

It's nice to see replies to feedback, and to know that your opinions, ideas or suggestions aren't falling on deaf ears.

One spot where they really dropped the ball was with the loadouts: They said straight out that they never intended to let you equip a Pistol with a Melee weapon. They didn't even make an animation for it! wtf? That's a standard!
So if you picked a pistol and a Powersword or chainsword for example, the animation would freeze and glitch, and the weapon wouldn't shoot properly.
(Their thoughts were to just allow Melee weapons to be equipped with Shields. We're not terminators.)

The concern was raised as a bug and they said that it was never an intended loadout. Already the members of the founding are telling them: "Guys! It's a staple in the LORE!!"

So I think you'll see it soon. I think it's great, how much they are giving us a chance to help shape it.

Sounds good, hope they keep it consistent throughout the development

This is up for pre-order on Amazon.com for consoles with the release date set for December 31st 2018.

I’m interested in this franchise. Do these games require skill and strategy? Or is it a bit mindless? I own a XB1 and I want some sort of challenge.

It's mindless. It plays like the Adventures of Van Helsing. I love the 40K universe so it floats my boat, but I don't know if it's for everyone.

This game has entered a new phase in Alpha, and it is really, really pretty to look at. They have added a lot of detail, and a story mode/campaign. They wiped all character progression which is a kick in the knob, but the Loot is dropping pretty nicely and progression is pretty fast at lower levels.

Here is some text from the Patch notes regarding a new character type.

New Class: Primaris Psyker Inquisitor

Certain Inquisitors used to serve the Imperium of Man as Primaris Psykers before they have reached their current ranks in the Inquisition. They are among the rare sanctioned few who can wield Psychic powers legally. Since Psykers could present a potential danger to entire worlds, the Inquisition relentlessly hunts them down, and those who are strong enough are recruited into Imperial service, fulfilling vital roles – like the Primaris Psykers. Their powers are drawn from the Warp as a weapon to smite the enemies of the Emperor, and Inquisitors with the Primaris Psyker background are experts in harnessing these boundless energies. In combat they rely on their psychic powers, preferring light armour and psychically attuned weapons.

A Primaris Psyker Inquisitor channels otherworldly energies, but they always risk damnation, deadly backlash from the Immaterium, not to mention the corrosive consequences of this sinister power on his own psyche. In game terms, Psyker Inquisitors gain penalties for using psychic powers, which may spawn Warp anomalies, so this character class requires a very different gameplay style compared to the Crusader of the Assassin Inquisitor.

There are three main specialist Inquisitors with Psyker background in the game, depending on the special wargear they use. Aetherwalkers employ an ancient, psychically reactive armour that phases its wearer between the Immaterium and Realspace, permitting to travel short distances in the blink of an eye. The Empyreanists gain their most important power from the product of a secret research project: even the existence of this ceremonial armour is denied outside the Caligari Conclave, as it uses long-forgotten xenotechnology to create a Warp anomaly that halts the flow of time for a short duration. The Scryers have a lightly armoured, psychic-attuned suit, the Warpbound Armour, which permits the Psyker Inquisitor to project its disembodied presence over the physical world, to gaze beyond the veil and take a look around without being detected.

I realize no one is giving too much of a shit about this thread but the game hasn't been officially released yet, so I expect things might pick up in here.

I am having a ton of fun with this, especially when I go back and do missions that are at a much lower power level and my character is totally OP. I have some streams up from last night and a couple days ago if anyone is curious.

I have no illusions of trying to grow a twitch following, I have better things to do, but if anyone wants to watch some gameplay, especially OP gameplay, it's up there.

Thanks man, keep updating in this thread too if you're going to stream it, I'll def pop in from to time. I love the 40k universe and have always wanted a game like this. I wish it was third or first person, but I love Diablo/isometric too, and I'm happy for a sci-fi version in a universe I love.

Did they ever fix the loadout issue with using a pistol/melee weapon? The game looks pretty sweet either way, but coming from 20+ years of the table top game that seems like a pretty big oversight.

I've not followed Warhammer since i was a kid, but it does look like a good game.

Watched some gameplay videos and it looks Diablo-esqe. I suppose if someone enjoyed Diablo they would probably be on familiar ground in this game?

Also, i couldn't find your stream vids for this game on your channel.

Yeah they fixed that. It is much more polished now in every aspect, but they are still calling it Alpha.

It is Diablo-esqe, however it plays even more-so like the Van Helsing games that these guys released previously.

Weird that you couldn't find my previous streams. They should be there under my videos tab I think. I am not much a twitch guy so I'll have to look into it.

I checked last night and all my vids are gone. I think since they made Twitch Prime, they are fucking the guys that don't want to pay. I used to have a few videos up but now, zero.

Lame. I am also having a terrible time with OBS Studio not displaying my gameplay, just getting a black screen, so I can't make new vids. Such a pain.

Decided to get the game. Enjoying the alpha so far but there's gonna be a reset before release in May so i'm not too into it at the moment.

Looking at the roadmap i'm confident this will shape up to be a pretty good game.

ok so far from what im seeing this looks more promising then any of the W40k games ive seen so far. The sound effects(most of them minus a few of the bolter and autocannon sounds) are bad ass, the enemy's look very 40k(nurgle), the environments are good, some of the planned road map ideas sound bad ass, and there are sync kills an plenty gore. This is what warhammer should be, an damn RPG

it looks far too slow to be a warhammer game in regards to the enemies, anyone else think the same? I need to see more footage of the enemies to impress me because I grew up loving everything about the Warhammer 40k (and Inquisitor) universes and I would expect the action to be considerably faster. None of those enemies really looked like they cared about killing the Inquisitor, they just plodded in his general direction and got shot <45> Loving so many of the details in the interface, artwork and so on, I'll definitely keep an eye on this games progress

and thanks for making the thread

It is slow moving. Very slow. Fun though.
