Was the LOSS to BARRERA too much for PRINCE NAS?

It's hard for me to buy that Nas quit just because barrera beat him. Yes barrera certainly outboxed him but it's not like he received a vicious career ending beating or anything.
He was beaten mentally more then physically.

His ego took a career ending beating.

Was only 27 years old... Barrera didn't even go to WAR with Nas and his power was able to flick Nas' body all around making him unbalanced and uncoordinated. Eubank Sr. also put Nas in his place saying that his whole ACT was really inspired from him. Jumping in the ring, flashy, etc....

Guys like Khan, Brook... these guys kept going when the going to tough, rough, WAR... Hamed claims that it was a hand injury... plenty of British boxers have had injuries...

Was Nas content with his fortune and was afraid of another loss? Never unified against a WBA or IBF Featherweight Champ

He was coasting already before the loss. His heart wasn't in it anymore and every fight he was busting up his hands. He wasn't destroyed by Bererra and his opportunities probably went south after 9/11. There probably weren't any big offers to pull him out of retirement mode.

Nas was a guy who got clowned badly after spending a career clowning others. It destroyed him.

When you're talking left and right about how Allah makes your defeat impossible, and package it with an excessively arrogant demeanor, getting utterly beaten like that from a stone faced fucker like MAB, that'll do it.

What's with the 9/11 theory? Barrera even flew to the UK and asked Nas if he was interested in a rematch and he declined, for a UK bout. Were the Brits honoring 9/11 that they wouldn't be able to sell Prince Nas? Nas has advisors and a publicist. He would easily condone the 9/11 attacks. Meanwhile plenty of Americans said it was inside job considering the inconsistencies... and then the USA later deploys to the Middle East ... man, can't believe it actually happened with the Twin Towers. That was a world catastrophe

He is the reason boxrec exists.

No need to keep fighting after that.

Barrera didn’t finish Naseems career.

He had enough money and just didn’t have the desire anymore.

It was the HBO millions that finished Naz.

He was a confidence fighter that thought he couldn’t be beat. I think he lost his sense of invincibility and would never be the same fighter. He retired at the right time imo

Barerra toyed with Nas, who looked totally lost for most of the fight. Nas probably realized this would happen again if he fought world class opponents.

So he could go back to fighting the Billy Hardly’s of this world, or just quit and get on with things he actually likes doing such as eating and dangerous driving.

Surprised you are the only person who has touched on this, the guy who stepped into the ring to fight Barrera was still the unbeaten fighter, but he wasnt the same fighter and was training less and less and just relying on his power to get him out of sticky situations(as was first evident in the Kelley fight).

He had sacked his long time trainer, and brought in Steward as an 'advisor' for this fight, and then shit himself in the dressing room beforehand when he realised he hadnt prepared properly.

I'm king of glad he took another fight then packed in, it showed his heart wasnt in it, and there nothing worse than seeing a fighter going through the motions for the sake of it.

The formula was exposed: Make Nas take the lead and NEVER let him counter puch.
Nas led plenty of times during his career. He had a decent backhand jab and he'd lead with corkscrew uppercuts.
